Plain text of Book 32
The fire is His sign; the sun is His sign; the wind and the moon are His signs. The Bright is His; Creator is He, and those waters are His creation, and He is the Creator of all.
All the twinklings of the eyelid, all moments of time, are by His decree, the Resplendent One. No one hath comprehended Him, above, across, or in the midst.
There is no counterpart of Him whose glory verily is great. In the beginning there was God, Lord of all that is created. Let not Him harm me. There is none born before Him.
This very God encompasseth all the regions with His knowledge; He knows what is in the wombs. He is the First, and shall be the Last, and facing all directions He receives His servants.
Before Whom naught whatever came to be; Who with His presence aids all living creatures, God the Creator maintains the three great lights.
By Whom the heavens are strong and earth stands firmly, by Whom light's realm and sky-vault are supported, by Whom the regions in mid-air were measured: whom shall we adore with our offering, if not Him?
To Whom, supported by His help, heaven and earth look up, trembling in their spirit, over whom the sun is shining: whom shall we adore with our offering, if not Him?
The sage beholdeth the Mysterious One, by whose command this All hath found its dwelling. To Him it returns, and from Him it issues: by His power, far-spread it is the warp and woof in creatures.
Knowing the Eternal, may the sage declare that station kept in secret. Three conditions thereof are hidden in mystery: he who knows these shall be wiser than his elders.
He is our Lord and Creator: He knows all beings and all ordinances; with Him the righteous, obtaining life eternal, have risen upward to the third high station.
Having encompassed in his knowledge existing creatures, the worlds and all the quarters and mid-quarters, having approached the Law of Order, he surrendereth himself wholly to God.
Having gone round in contemplation the earth and heaven, around the worlds, around the sky, the quarters, having spread out the lengthened thread of Order, he perceives the Truth and submits to God.
To God, wondrous Lord of the assembly, Friend of the righteous, Giver of wisdom, I have drawn near in prayer.
O God, make me wise this day with that wisdom which the companies of angels and the righteous elders recognise. Glory to Thee!
O God, All-Seeing, Radiant, Creator, Mighty, Life-giver: grant me wisdom. Glory to Thee!
May scholars and leaders alike enjoy the splendour that is mine. May God bestow on me the best splendour. To Thee be the glory for it.
