Plain text of Book 26
May fire and earth, closely connected, by God's leave bring within my reach the boon I mention. May wind and firmament, closely connected, by God's leave, etc. May heaven and the sun, closely connected, by God's leave, etc. May the sea and the waters, closely connected, by God's leave, etc. O Lord of the seven communities, and Thou who formest all beings, eighth, make our ways full of pleasantness: may So-and-So and I agree.
That I to all the people may address this salutary speech, to scholar and ruler, to labourer and tradesman, to one of our own kin and to the stranger. Dear may I be to God and to the generous giver. Fulfilled be this my hope: be that my portion!
Give us, O Lord of Prayer, that wondrous treasure, that which exceeds the merit of the foeman, which shines among the folk effectual, splendid, that, O Thou who art true to Law, which is with might refulgent. Taken up as a base art thou. Thee for the Lord of Prayer. This is thy home. Thee for the Lord of Prayer.
Come hither, O Mighty, rich in kine! Accept the offering, Lord of Hundred Powers, effused by the sounding pressing-stones. Taken up as a base art thou. Thee for the Mighty, rich in kine. This is thy home. Thee for the Mighty, rich in kine.
O Mighty One, overcomer of the obstructor, come. Accept the offering, Lord of Hundred Powers, expressed with stones, whose wealth is kine. Taken up as a base art thou, etc., as in verse 4.
God, the Lord of all people, the righteous One, the Lord of sacrifice and light, the heat that wasteth not, we seek. Taken up as a base art thou. Thee for the Lord of all people. This is thy home. Thee for the Lord of all people.
Still in God's grace may we continue: yea, He is King Supreme over all things living. He looks upon all that is born; the fire He gave vies with the sun in light. Taken up as a base art thou, etc., as in verse 6.
Be near, O God, Lord of all people, to succour us from far away, brought near by our laud! Taken up as a base, etc., as in verse 6.
God is the Purifier, the Sage, the Guide of the five peoples; to Him of mighty wealth we pray. Taken up as a base art thou. Thee for lustre. This is thy home. Thee for lustre.
May God the Mighty, thunder-armed, protect us well, and overcome the wicked man who hateth us. Taken up as a base art thou. Thee for the Supreme Mighty. This is thy home. Thee for the Supreme Mighty.
As cows low to their calves in stalls, so with our songs we glorify God the Mighty, your wondrous Lord who checks assault.
Most fetching is the song to God the Radiant. Shine mightily, Thou rich in light! From Thee riches and strength proceed.
Come, here, O God; verily other songs will I sing to Thee, and with these drops of offering may we grow strong.
The seasons spread the sacrifice for Thee! The months protect Thine offering! May the year guard our sacrifice for Thee and keep our children safe.
There where the mountains downward slope, there by the meeting of the streams the sage was manifest with song.
High is the birth of this juice: though set in heaven, on earth it hath obtained strong sheltering power and great renown.
Finder of room and freedom, flow for God's sake, meet for worship, flow for the sake of the All-Seeing and the host of the angels of the storm.
Striving to win, with him we gain all wealth of the ungodly one, yea, all the glories of mankind.
May we be prosperous with brave sons, cattle, horses, each wish of ours, and varied blessings, with quadrupeds, and with the men about us. May God guide our sacrifice in season.
In sweetest and most gladdening stream flow pure, O juice, on thy way, pressed out as an offering for God's sake.
Fiend-queller, friend of all men, it hath in the vat attained unto its place, its iron-fashioned home.
