The soul before the infinite God

3.14.1 Verily, this whole world is created by God. Tranquil, let one worship Him alone, from whom he came forth, to whom he will return, by whose command he breathes.

Now, verily, a person is formed by purpose. According to the purpose which a person has in this world, thus does he become on departing hence. So let him form for himself a righteous purpose.

3.14.2 He who consists of knowledge, whose power is life, whose light is radiant, whose purpose is truth, who encompasses space, who comprehends all works, all desires, all odors, all tastes, who encompasses this whole world, the unspeaking, the unconcerned, [3] this is God. The soul of mine within the heart, created by Him, is smaller than a grain of rice, or a barley-corn, or a mustard-seed, or a grain of millet, or the kernel of a grain of millet; yet His knowledge and power over it are greater than the earth, greater than the atmosphere, greater than the sky, greater than these worlds.

3.14.4 He who comprehends all works, all desires, all odors, all tastes, who encompasses this whole world, the unspeaking, the unconcerned, He is my Lord, nearer to me than the vein of my neck. To Him I shall return on departing hence.

If one would believe this, he would have no more doubt. Thus used Sandilya to say, yea, Sandilya!
