1 Wide-reaching is the Great Way of God! It may be found on the left hand and on the right.

2 All things depend on Him for their production, which He gives to them, not one refusing obedience to Him. When His work is accomplished, He does not boast of having done it. He clothes all things as with a garment, and yet He has no need of any of them; He is the Lord of all. His sign may be seen in the smallest things. All things return (to their root and disappear), and do not know that it is He who presides over their doing so; His sign may be seen in the greatest things.

3 Hence the sage is able (in the same way) to accomplish his great achievements. It is through his not making himself great that he can accomplish them.
