Plain text of A hymn to God (Inana F)

1-3 To God belong the heavens and He gave the earth. He is God! What compares with Him?

4-13 God gave the heavens and He gave the earth. He is God! He gave lordship, and He gave kingship. He gave battles and He gave fighting. He gave the stormwind and He gave the dust cloud. He made the heavens a crown and the earth a footstool for the righteous. He wrapped the holy garment around the body. He put the holy sceptre in the hand.

14-17 The creatures are small birds, but He is the mighty One. The angels mill about, but He is the Lord who walks in front.

18-20 When one enters the house of God, the gate-keeper does not lift his hand against the breast; the minister does not say, "Rise!".

21-33 The heavens are His and the earth is His: He is mighty! In Unug the sanctuary is His, in Zabalam the sanctuary is His, in Nibru the bond of heaven and earth is His, in Urim the sanctuary is His, in Jirsu the sanctuary is His, in Adab the sanctuary is His, in Kic the sanctuary is His, in Kisiga the sanctuary is His, in Akcak the sanctuary is His, in Umma the sanctuary is His, in Agade the sanctuary is His. What compares with Him?
