Plain text of Hymn 47 God the Mighty
1 Accept, O Mighty One, girt by the storm-angels, as Bull, the offering, for joy, for rapture even as Thou listest.
Pour down the flood of meath in blessing: Thou from of old art King of all provision.
2 O Mighty One, accordant, with the banded storm-angels, accept, Hero, as wise slayer of the obstructor.
Slay Thou our foemen, drive away assailants and make us safe on every side from danger.
3 And, accepting at due seasons, accept in season, O Mighty One, with Thy friendly angels, our offering.
The storm-angels following, whom Thou madest sharers, gave Thee the victory, and Thou slewest the obstructor.
4 Accept, O Mighty One, banded with the storm-angels who, Bountiful One, strengthened Thee at the serpent's slaughter,
'Gainst Sambara, Lord of Bays! in winning cattle, and now rejoice in Thee, the holy singers.
5 The Bull whose strength hath waxed, whom the storm-angels follow, free-giving Mighty One, the celestial Ruler,
Mighty, all-conquering, the victory-giver, Him let us call to grant us new protection.
