Plain text of Hymn 42 God the Mighty
1 Come to the gift that we have prepared, mingled with milk, O Mighty One:
Come, favouring us, Thy bay-drawn car!
2 Come, O Mighty One, to this gladdening gift, placed on the grass, pressed out with stones:
Wilt Thou not be gracious to us therein?
3 To the Mighty One have my songs of praise gone forth, thus rapidly sent hence,
To turn Him to our offering.
4 Hither with songs of praise we call the Mighty One to our gift:
Will He not come to us by lauds?
5 O Mighty One, these gifts are prepared. Receive them in Thy grace, Lord
Of Hundred Powers, Thou Prince of Wealth.
6 We know Thee winner of the spoil, and resolute in battles, Sage!
Therefore Thy blessing we implore.
7 Borne hither by Thy stallions, accept, O Mighty One, this gift which we have prepared,
Mingled with barley and with milk.
8 O Mighty One, for Thee, in Thine own place, I prepare the gift:
Deep in Thy favour let it remain.
9 We call on Thee, the Ancient One, O Mighty One, to accept the gift,
We Kusikas who seek Thine aid.
