Plain text of Book The Eighth · HYMN LXXVI. The Healer and Helper (Asvins)
1 Splendid, O Lord, is Thy praise. Come fountain-like, to pour the stream.
Of the sweet juice effused-dear is it, Chief, in heaven-accept it, as wild bulls come to a pool.
2 Accept the offering rich in sweets, O Lord: be present, Hero, with Thy grace.
Do Thou with joyful heart in the abode of man preserve his life by means of wealth.
3 The Priyamedhas bid Thee come with all the succours that are Thine.
Come to his house whose holy grass is trimmed, to the dear devotion at the morning rites.
4 Accept the Soma rich in meath, O Lord: be gracious to us.
So, waxen mighty, to our eulogy from heaven come, as wild bulls to the pool.
5 Come to us, O Lord, now with steeds of many a varied hue,
Lord of splendour, wondrous, borne on paths of gold, accept the Soma, Thou who strengthenest Law.
6 For we the priestly singers, fain to hymn Thy praise, invoke Thee for the gain of strength.
So, wondrous, fair, and famed for great deeds come to us, through our hymn, O Lord, when Thou hearest.
