Plain text of Mandala 4 · Hymn 55 All the Names of God
Who of the Sustainers saveth? who protecteth? O heaven and earth and Boundless One, preserve us, All-Seeing, Friend, from the stronger mortal. Angels, which of you at worship giveth comfort?
They who with laud extol the ancient statutes, when they shine forth infallible dividers, have ordered as perpetual Ordainers, and beamed as holy-thoughted Wonder-Workers.
The Boundless One, the Mistress of the house, and the river, and well-being, I implore for friendship: and may the unobstructed night and morning both, day and night, provide for our protection.
The Upholder of Law and the All-Seeing have disclosed the pathway, the Radiant One as Lord of Strength the road to welfare. Lauded in manly mode may the Mighty and the All-Pervading grant us their powerful defence and shelter.
I have besought the favour of the storm-angels, of the mountain, of the Bountiful God who rescues. From trouble caused by man may the Lord preserve us; from woe sent by his friend let the Friend save us.
Agree, through these our watery offerings, heaven and earth. As if to win the sea, the warmth-bringers have opened, as they come anear, the rivers.
May the Boundless One with the angels defend us, save us the saving God with care unceasing. We dare not stint the sacred food of the Friend and the All-Seeing upon the back of the fire.
The Radiant One is Sovereign Lord of wealth, the Radiant One of great prosperity: may He bestow these gifts on us.
Hither to us, rich pleasant dawn, bring many things to be desired, thou who hast ample store of wealth.
So then may the Bountiful, the Light-giver, the All-Seeing, the Friend, the Upholder, the Mighty come to us with bounty.
