In the name of the Great Living God, glorified be the exalted Light.

Sum-Kusta stands and teaches. Sum bar Nu, Sum, stands in faithfulness and says: "The Seven were enmity to me and the Twelve a persecution. They say: Let us bind him in our earth, that he may not behold the place of light. Let us hold him back in this world, that he may not ascend to the world beyond, to the light. Let us loose wrath and grief against him, that he may forget the Man, his helper. Let us catch him by our great mystery, that he may not ask after his helpers. Let us bring him into hard captivity, that he may forget the heavenly speech. Let us loose grave sickness against him, that he may lose his Lord from his mind. Let us teach him our song and our babbling, that he may forget his prayer of every hour. Let us drive him into great persecution and into the sorrows of this world. Let us loose fury against him, that he may forget his prayer of the night. Let us hold him back with our evil snares, that he may not ascend to the house of the Mighty One."

When the planets, whose eyes do not behold the light, spoke thus, I answered: "I do not fall through your secret arts, and I do not stumble through your stumbling-blocks. I do not listen to your talk, and your blazing fire does not consume me. I do not let myself be held back in your dwelling, and I do not forget my helpers. I do not listen to your wicked word, and I do not forget my Lord from my mind. Your wrath and your persecution do not oppress me, and I do not abandon the heavenly speech. Your efforts concerning me do not weigh on me, and I do not give up my prayer of the night. I do not let myself be shut into your dwelling or entangled in your plans, and I do not give up the prayers of every hour. I do not forget the Great Living God, and I do not crave perishable things. I do not forget the hidden angels, my brothers, and I do not let myself be held back in the dwelling of faithlessness. I do not forget the praise of my Lord, and your wrath does not oppress me. I do not forget my hidden books, and I have no desire for your vain song. I do not forget those prayers of mine, and I have withstood your efforts to make me forget my Lord; my speech is not of perishable things. Who would forget his family and desire the dwelling of perishable things? Who would forget the speech of God, the praise of the Great Living God and prayer to Him, in order to speak and hear of the deceit of this world? Who would forget the prayer and praise of his parents, in order to wish to dwell in the bodily frame that is wholly full of pains and faults? If the Great Living God desires me, my form shall ascend to His dwelling-places. Let the body hold back its master and all his house. Let darkness strike the head of its servants. I ascend to the house of the Great Living God, I dwell at the summit, and I do not forget my helpers."

And God is victorious.
