Plain text of The Visits of Manda d-Haije

69.

In the name of God, the Ever-Living, the Great, and by the precious Truth.

When the scale would not weigh, until the king gave the command from his place, he called to the scale, caressed and coaxed it and said to it: "Go, Sarhabel-Bihram scale, whom the angels desired, chosen as one from a thousand and brought on high.

"You are of the light of Ethinsib, the light, and of Anhar, the hidden light, who were created from the light of the Nitufta." Manda d-Haije opened his mouth, spoke to Singilan-Uthra and addressed him: "You are one of the new radiant beings," he said, "and one of the precious lights. You are one of the pure hidden mountains. You are one ... whose name reaches from the preserved Mana to the preserved angels, and from the hidden angels ..."

Manda d-Haije set out and went until he came to Nsab-Ziwa. When Nsab-Ziwa saw him, he sprang up from his throne. He turned to him and said: "Risen, risen is the great mirror, by whom his companions shine. He gave light to the dwellings and gave light in them to the angels."

When Nsab-Ziwa said this, Manda d-Haije turned to him and said: "You are one of the new mirrors and one of the hidden dwellings. You are of the likeness of the angels, of the praise of the Mighty."

Manda d-Haije set out and went until he came to the house of Ethinsib-Ziwa. When Ethinsib-Ziwa saw his splendour, he sprang up from his throne and said: "Blessed be your coming, Manda d-Haije, physician of all the dwellings, and narcissus that is older than all fragrant flowers. Blessed be your seat of honour on which you sit. Blessed be the olive staff you hold in your hand, which was planted from the olive staff of the Mana."

When Ethinsib-Ziwa said this, Manda d-Haije turned to him and said: "Blessed be the Creator who created you. To this high measure He has given you greatness, made you great like the precious Mana, made you a beloved truth, more beloved than all the angels."

Manda d-Haije set out and went until he came to S'haq-Ziwa. When S'haq-Ziwa saw his splendour, he sprang up from his throne, addressed Manda d-Haije and said to him: "How clear is your insight, and how shining and bright your splendour! Your splendour, that rests upon your ... As the crown shines on your head and gives light to the angels, your splendour shines over the angels and all the dwellings."

When S'haq-Ziwa said this, Manda d-Haije turned to him with the words: "Blessed be your rich splendour and your light that burns in the world. Blessed be the praise that rests in your mouth. Blessed be the great cloud from which you were formed. Blessed be the crown on your head, which the king has granted you."

Manda d-Haije set out and went until he came to the Nitufta. When the Nitufta saw his splendour, she rose from her throne, holding the olive staff in her hand, and turned to Manda d-Haije with the words: "Come, come, hidden splendour, and light that burns in the world. Come and give light to your elders, whose eyes are fixed on you. Give light to the dwelling of your elders. For you are the great mirror of the angels, the shining one of all the angels."

When the Nitufta said this, Manda d-Haije greeted her with honour and said to her: "Sarrath they have called you on high. The angels gather about you, about you the angels gather and speak well of you, Nitufta. For Sarrath-Nitufta are you, the first planting are you."

Manda d-Haije set out and went until he came to Pearl-Nitufta. When Pearl-Nitufta saw his splendour, she stood up from her throne and greeted Manda d-Haije with honour.

God is exalted and victorious, and victorious is the man who went forth to this place.
