Plain text of Gaf and Kanath-Nitufta
68.
In the name of God, the Ever-Living, the Great, and by the precious Truth.
When Manda d-Haije went to the place where the demons sit, when the demons saw his splendour, they weep and lament and dissolve in tears. The demons weep like lambs, and the women weep like sheep. When Manda d-Haije went to the place where Gaf sits, when Gaf saw his splendour, he sprang up from his throne. He said to him: "Who are you among the great ones, and who are you, that you rise up by the Jordans?" He sees the fruits, grapes and trees, and the fragrance of life that came along with me. Then Kanath-Nitufta arises and comes near. From the inner chambers she came forth. She came forth from the inner chambers and the howling darkness, and the black water went out with her and came to the seven walls that surround the land of Sinjawis. At the outer wall Kanath-Nitufta sat down. Sixty-two years Kanath sat at the outer wall, until the fragrance of life settled, and a messenger came to her and said: "Arise, arise, Kanath-Nitufta, whom God built and created. Arise, Barath-Nitufta, whom God has dearly loved. Arise, Pirfath-Nitufta, and ascend to your Lord. Arise, Sarrath-Nitufta, and be a support for the righteous. Arise, Pearl-Nitufta, you pure pearl, whom God has loved and whom He created. Arise, Simat-Haije-Nitufta, whom God has created."
Kanath-Nitufta then sets out. When Kanath-Nitufta came to the gate of the wall, she bent her knee to the earth. She glorified her Lord and said: "He is the Living One who does not die, and splendour and light that has no end and does not pass away."
God is exalted and victorious, and victorious is the man who went forth to this place.
