Plain text of The Stranger in Jerusalem
54.
In the name of God, the Ever-Living, the Great, may the sublime Light be glorified.
I did not wish, and do not wish, to go up to the town of Jerusalem, a place of the wicked, a stronghold of sinners, into which falsehood has been brought in fullness. In fullness falsehood was brought into it, and persecution arose against my disciples. How little pleasure and desire I had to go up to the place Jerusalem! Yet there I have my brothers Yaqif and Bin-Amin, the two sons of gold. I have Miryai, the perfect, who is worth to me generations and worlds.
My chosen ones! For long ages I could not dwell among you in the world. My garment was not a bodily one, that I should dwell among you in the world. I ascended on high and came to the Abodes of Truth; I sat down there and said: "Blessed and again blessed is he who takes heed of himself. He who takes heed of himself has no equal in the world." I say: "How grieved I am for my disciples who live in that age; they despise the pearls, and err, and transgress against me. How grieved I am for my disciples who live in that age: Ruha let loose and drove filth against them and casts them down to the gates of darkness. How grieved I am for my disciples who have fallen into the captivity of Ruha. She let loose against them waves of lewdness, of idle song and of fornication, and casts them down to the gates of darkness."
Everyone who in the years of this wicked age binds the headband about his head is worth generations and worlds to me; he is worth more to me than a thousand. When he leaves the body, he will find his place among the angels of light. Everyone who in the years of this wicked age holds up the white banner, hears the call and the voice, and goes out to the white Jordan, will be met with banners of splendour from the place of light. To everyone who calls upon the knowledge of life, the knowledge of life will be a support.
My chosen ones! If you see offerings for the idols, then either your mind has suffered, or your sense is being perverted. For the first age belonged wholly to our communities. The second age belonged wholly to our communities. The third age belonged wholly to our communities. The fourth age was nothing but wickedness.
Everyone who listens and hears this hidden speech, which has gone forth from my mouth, the mouth of Hibil-Ziwa, oh, what a place is prepared for him! But whoever does not listen and hear, what torment awaits him in the place of darkness! So listen and hear, my chosen ones, and let your community ascend to the place of light.
God is exalted and victorious, and victorious is the man who went forth to this place.
