Plain text of Jorabba

52.

In the name of God, the Ever-Living, the Great.

Jorabba, the warlike man, trembled and shook when the command came to him: "Arise, sit in your chariot. Arise, sit in your chariot and circle in this world. Circle in the world and be of service to all worlds. When you enter and when you go out, do not grow heated and do not rage and do not sin against my sons. Do not sin against my disciples who dwell with you in the world." Jorabba arose and went until he came to the house of Ptahil. They, the three stars, received commands from their Lord. They received commands from their Lord and glorify Him exceedingly. Every day praise ascends three times before Him. Shamish, in pride, utters 900 praises. Sin, the leprous, the deficient, utters 300 praises. Libat, the seductress, in pride utters 600 praises, and with 24 praises they glorify their Lord.

As Jorabba sat in his chariot and travelled about the world, Ewath, the lying Ruha, came and gave him useless counsels. She admonished them, speaking to them in wickedness about the sons of the great family, saying that the Living One was angry.

When the guardians, the youths, saw this, they ascended to the house of life. They went and told Hibil-Ziwa of the deeds that Jorabba had committed in this world. They told Hibil-Ziwa; then he arose and went to his brothers. He arose, went to his brothers and stood before the angels. As the angels sat and deliberated, Hibil-Ziwa went, stood there, struck Jorabba with the club and threw Ruha down from her throne. He said to him: "What did I say to you when you went to the perishable house? What have my disciples done, that you have let loose wickedness against them? Wickedness you have let loose upon them, and you terrify them within this world."

Then I took from him the splendour and the light and set him in dark mists. I took away the great crown and struck his head with the club. I took away the four rays of splendour, light and glory, and the guardians fled from him. The world stood in ruin, the whole world was perishing. Jorabba cried and wept, Jorabba wept and cried, and he lamented in his chariot because of the wrath that had come upon him. His face darkened and grew dim, and he stood there in his original form. Then he said to Hibil-Ziwa: "If it please you, let forgiveness be granted me by you. I swear to you by the 900 praises with which I glorify my Lord. I swear to you by that hour and time when he wished to swallow me and devour me, when he wished to destroy me and you became a deliverer to me. I swear to you by the garment of splendour, light and glory that you brought me from the hidden place. I swear to you by the four crowns of splendour, light and glory that were taken from me. I swear to you by the great countenance of glory from which the radiance of splendour went forth. I swear to you by the two guardians who are set for me on the mountain Tarwan with banners of splendour in high measure, who speak with me kindly and speak in radiant words." Jorabba swore valid oaths and sealed his vows.

Then he gave back to him the garment of splendour, light and glory that he had brought him from the hidden place. He gave back to him the four crowns of splendour, light and glory, that he might illumine the worlds. He gave him the great diadem of splendour beyond measure. He restored him, let him take his seat in his chariot, and gave him back the guardians who had been taken from him, that they might watch over him wholly; he gave him back all the guardians.

Then a loud voice called from the hidden place and let him hear in the dark gloom: "Do you not know, Jorabba, that wrath has come upon you? Do you not know, Jorabba, that I brought you into dark gloom? Do you not know, Jorabba, that I let loose affliction and wrath against you, and all the guardians departed, when I pronounced an evil curse against you and brought you into dark gloom? Into dark gloom I brought you, and no one became a deliverer to you. Ruha, your mother, and the planets and the twelve constellations were hidden in dark clouds of mist and could do nothing against my power. Do you not know, Jorabba, that I came here like the lowering of an eyelash? Do you not know, Jorabba, that you shine in the world only on my account? Do you not know, Jorabba, that I brought you steadfastness and watchfulness only for the sake of my sons? Do you not know, Jorabba, that I can darken your form and make it tremble?"

Then he wept in his chariot and said to Hibil-Ziwa: "If I have sinned against your disciples, then let pain and torture be raised against me. But by your life, Hibil-Ziwa, and by the hidden place from which you have come; by your life, Hibil-Ziwa, I swear that I have not sinned against your sons. I have not sinned against your disciples who dwell with us in the world."

Hibil-Ziwa then ascended to his place, but Jorabba he condemned to the perishable house. He stood to wait in the house until the world comes to an end. As Jorabba drove out in his chariot, he spoke in radiant words. He feared and said: "I will do good to the sons of the sublime community." But then the lying Ruha came and imparted to him sorcery and vain works. She took from him ... Then he became full of wickedness, he became full of wickedness and forgot fear and dread, until on the last day justice is pronounced upon them. All the demons sink down into the darkness and perish.

And God is victorious.
