Yahya preaches in the nights, Yohana in the evenings of the night. Yahya preaches in the nights and says: The high fortresses collapse, the lofty palaces are destroyed. There is no one in this world to whom one says "Blessed are you" without quickly saying to him "Woe to you".

The Jews gathered, go to Yahya and say to him: "We adjure you, Yahya, by the King of light whom you worship, tell us: If someone fails through fornication, what will his trial be? If someone fails through theft, what judgement is passed upon him? If someone commits adultery with the wife of his neighbour, what judgement is passed upon him? If someone leaves a wife and takes another, what judgement is passed upon him? If a woman commits fornication, what judgement is passed upon her? If someone goes to the soothsayers and the Chaldeans of falsehood, what judgement is passed upon him? If someone drinks wine in the tavern, falls into drunkenness and transgresses in that state, what judgement is passed upon him? If someone goes to a singing-girl and sows the seed of falsehood, and she becomes pregnant by him, then takes a drug and goes into the streets and throws the child away, and the eyes of the child look toward the mother, but the mother does not look at the child, what judgement is passed upon him? If someone lies with his wife and does not wash himself with water, what judgement is passed upon him? If a woman does not wash herself with water, what judgement is passed upon her? If someone sleeps with his wife on the first day on which she washes herself from uncleanness and menstruation, what judgement is passed upon him? If someone takes interest and compound interest on gold and silver, what judgement is passed upon him? If someone loves gold and silver and does no good with it, what judgement is passed upon him? If someone smells the fragrance of life and does not pronounce the name of God over it, what judgement is passed upon him? If someone does ugly deeds, what judgement is passed upon him? If someone dyes his hands and feet and distorts the form that his Lord has appointed for him, what judgement is passed upon him? If someone loves dyed cloth, what judgement is passed upon him?"

When the Jews spoke thus, Yahya cried out loudly, called and said: "Far be it that the great, mighty Light should have any share in impurities. Everyone who fails through fornication will find his trial in the fire of hell. Everyone who fails through theft will be fettered on the dark mountain. Everyone who commits adultery with the wife of his neighbour will have the fire as his judge until his spirit ceases. Everyone who commits fornication with a widow will be fettered on the dark mountain. Everyone who commits fornication with a betrothed woman will be struck upon double engines and will not be able to look at the angel Abathur. Everyone who leaves a wife and takes another will be struck with instruments of fire. A woman who commits fornication will be used as firewood and will not be able to look upon the house of God. Everyone who goes to soothsayers and Chaldeans of falsehood will be struck with instruments of ice. Everyone who drinks wine in a tavern, becomes intoxicated with drums and songs and commits fornication in that state, will be combed with combs of chains, and will not be able to look at Abathur. Everyone who goes to a singing-girl and sows the seed of falsehood, and she becomes pregnant by him and takes a drug, goes and throws the child into the filth, then digs a pit and buries it, then turns around and treads upon it with her heels; the eyes of the child look toward the mother, but the mother does not look at the child; the child then dies in the filth, and the mother weeps over it quite secretly, she will be called to account in that watch-house of the greedy, raging, dumb and deaf dogs. She will be called to account, will not be able to look at Abathur, and her name will be wiped out from the house of God. Everyone who approaches his wife and does not wash himself with water will find his dwelling in the belly of Leviathan. A woman who does not wash herself with water will receive blow upon blow. The pure name will curse her, with a wasting without end the guardian of light will plague her, and her name will be wiped out from the house of God. A man who sleeps with his wife on the first day on which she washes herself with water from uncleanness and menstruation will be left standing in the black clouds of darkness. Everyone who devours interest and compound interest on gold and silver will be left standing on the mountain, the dark mountain. Everyone who loves gold and silver and does no good with it will die a double death and be shut away. Everyone who smells the fragrance of life and does not pronounce the name of God over it will be called to account in the house of Abathur. Everyone who does ugly deeds will be cut down by the sword and the sabre of the planets. Everyone who dyes his hands and feet and distorts the form that his Lord has appointed for him will take coals with his hands and fan the blaze with his lips. He wishes for death and cannot die, life does not draw near to him, it does not let him die and does not deliver him from the torment, that he might ascend and behold the place of light. Because of the baptism that he received in the Jordan he will not be condemned to remain in the dwelling of the sinners. Everyone who loves dyed cloth, one clothes him with darkness, covers him with garments of gloom and puts sandals of fire on his feet. Darkness goes before him, and gloom follows after him. Evil spirits and demons form his company. Because he loved dyed cloth, he will be bound in the watch-stations until his spirit ceases.

To you I say and explain, you souls of men of tested piety, who bear witness to God: Do not commit ugly deeds, lest you sink down into the place of darkness."

God is exalted and victorious, and victorious is the righteous man who has come here.
