A soul am I of the Great Life,

a soul am I of the mighty Life,

a soul am I of the Great Life.

They went and brought me into the Tibil.

The house was built by liars,

forgers dwell in it.

There was no knowing one who knew me,

no learned one who had knowledge of me.

There was no righteous one

whose speech was like that of the angels.

How shall I dwell

in the house which liars built?

Forgers dwell in it,

who are all full of greed.

If it pleases You, King of the Great,

set up a milestone for me.

A milestone set up for me,

and before the milestone a great dam.

Create for me a caller,

a caller create for me.

When I sleep, let him wake me,

when I stumble, let him lift me up.

When the Seven strike me,

let him heal me and lift me up.

As the soul stands and seeks to be enlightened,

his helper drew near to him.

His great helper drew near,

he went and set up a milestone for him.

He went, set up a milestone for him

and before the milestone a dam.

He was a helper to him,

he was a caller to him.

When he slept, his prayer woke him,

when he stumbled, his praise lifted him up.

When the Seven struck him,

his hidden strength became a healer to him.

It became a healer to him,

lifted him up and set him upright,

levelled a level way for him.

He showed him and set up a path for him

and a bridge, that he might ascend to his place:

"Come, come, soul,

come, ascend upon your path.

Come, ascend upon your path,

come, step upon your way of life.

Come, step upon your way of life,

for I became a helper to you.

I took you out of the world of darkness,

set your seat of honour on high.

Your seat of honour I set up on high,

because you endured persecution in the world.

Because you endured the persecution,

all your sins will be forgiven you."

Lord of exalted bliss,

Lord of exalted bliss,

who upholds the angels. —
