Plain text of Right Ginza, Third Book: The Book of the Living, First Teaching (4)
my heart was set upright upon its support.
I began in the strength of the Great One,
spoke and praised the Mighty One:
"Since the evil in them did not come into being through You, O Good One,
why should I go to that place?"
When I wanted to speak so,
the great God spoke to me:
"A pregnant one became pregnant in the Second.
Descend to the world in good time.
Through your strength Uthras will come into being,
through your splendour mighty ones will be set up."
The Great One in His greatness
bestowed on me abundant splendour.
Abundantly He gave me splendour,
abundantly He gave me light.
He bestowed on me victory,
which keeps me from everything hateful.
He bestowed on me a wide garment,
vast and endless.
He bestowed on me a wide garment
and made me great in high degree.
He bestowed on me an olive staff of living water,
a staff by which the rebels are struck down.
He bestowed on me a wreath of living fire,
wondrous and full of light beyond compare.
He armed me with His armour,
He caressed and kissed me as one of the mighty.
He said to me:
"Go out against the rebels of darkness,
who plot evil against us.
They plot in wickedness,
and the wicked one shut himself up in his vessel.
In his vessel the wicked one shut himself up,
and nothing of your word will reach him."
He says to me:
"The good will ascend because of his virtue
and behold the place of light.
The wicked, because of his wickedness,
will plunge down to the gates of darkness.
The calls are called out,
the speeches are well thought out.
A call comes
and teaches about all calls.
A speech comes
and teaches about all speeches.
A man comes
and teaches about this and that."
When the Great One had so spoken to me,
I went, by His power, to the place of darkness,
to the place in which the wicked dwell,
to the dwelling that is full of destroyers,
to the place of the dragons,
to the furnaces of consuming fire,
to the fire-furnaces whose flame rises up
and reaches the middle of the firmament.
I went and met
the rebellious fiends of darkness.
I went and found them,
how they all plot in wickedness.
They stand there and plot in wickedness,
they stand there and forge weapons.
They stand there and forge weapons
and plot evil against the good.
They plot in wickedness
and take counsel with one another.
They take counsel with one another
and say:
"Is there another being
who wants to make a division in our world?
If there is anyone stronger than we,
we shall rise and fight with him.
We shall see where he comes from,
where his dwelling and world come from.
This house belongs wholly to us;
there is no division in our world.
Are there beings whose power is greater
than that of the fiends?
There are none whose power is greater
than that of the angels of our place."
All plot and seek,
and all stumble over one another.
Ruha, the harlot:
her mind is crafty, full of lies.
Such is the mind of the liar Ruha,
who is all full of sorcery.
All full of sorcery she is,
full of witchcraft and (false) wisdom.
Hewath, the woman, Ruha, sits there with her Hmurthas
and tears out the locks on her head.
She sits there and practises lying sorcery,
she with her Hmurthas, and trains herself in the (false) wisdom.
As Ruha plots and seeks
and digs in lying sorcery,
is entangled in evil sorcery,
in which she is skilled,
as she plots and digs in sorcery,
Ruha learned of this and that.
Who told it to Ruha,
who informed the faulty and deficient one,
who informed the liar,
the woman, the mother of the feeble fiend,
who informed the liar
that the strange man has gone here?
The liar arose,
she with all her Hmurthas;
she came and found
the mighty fiends sitting there.
She came and found them,
all clothed with weapons.
All were clothed with weapons
and sat before the king of darkness.
The king of darkness, with great violence,
raged about in his dwelling and cried:
"Is there anyone more powerful than I,
to whom all worlds pay tribute?
Should there be anyone more powerful than I,
let him rise to fight with me,
whose food is mountains,
in whose belly there is only poison, no blood.
All the great ones and giants,
