A soul am I of the Great Life,

a soul am I of the mighty Life,

a soul am I of the Great Life.

Who cast me into mysteries and signs?

Into mysteries and signs, who cast me,

who poured me into want and fault?

Into want and fault, who poured me,

who showed me the image of the ......?

Who let me dwell on the earth of destruction,

on which all the mountains will soon be destroyed?

All the lofty mighty ones who are upon it will be annihilated,

their strength among them will be cut off.

As the soul stands and reflects,

the man, his helper, comes.

His great helper comes,

who provided for him, who provided well for him:

"The house in which you dwell,

why do you ask about it?

Did you not know, soul,

that it happens as you said?

We take our place in the hidden realm,

that you may leave them quickly.

Quickly you will leave them

and ascend to us.

To us you shall ascend

and dwell in our abode."

When the helper spoke thus to the soul,

he became quiet and calmed himself.

The soul became quiet and calmed himself

and no longer asked about the transient ones.

No longer did he ask about the transient ones

who built the perishable house.

He was patient for a short while and dwelt in it,

but soon he flew upward and reached his place.

Soon he reached his place,

the place from which he was created,

the place from which he was created

and in which his form had shone.

The soul rejoices in his heart

and is enlightened in his trunk:

"How wondrous is what you told me, my guide,

how wondrous is what the Great One charged me with.

Go, go, you planets,

go, become a portion of your houses.

Go, become a portion of your houses,

and let your houses become a portion of you.

I and the root of my Lord ascend,

and the house is left behind with you." —

And praised be God, the Living.
