Plain text of Sixteenth Book, Tenth Piece
Praise of the Living God. Petition to the Living God for the granting of strength to stand firm on the earth and to reach the place of light. The petition is granted.
Of all the voices I have heard,
your voice answered me, you servant of the mighty Living God.
Lovely is the voice of His call,
sweet the voice of His speech.
Wondrous is the place where He is enthroned,
unbounded His praise.
Radiant and great is He in His ordinances
and does all that He wishes.
As I stand in my place,
I uttered a great petition.
I said:
"Who will grant me of His exalted power,
that it may be a support to me in the ages?
Who will grant me of His gentle dominion
and serve me in all ages (in wondrous manner)?
Who will open my mouth like the mouth of the Frash-Ziwa
and make my lips like its two banks?
Like the water that runs in it,
let Him fill me with prayers, hymns and orders of prayer.
Who will bring me up to the place where He is enthroned,
which is wondrous, bright, shining and enlightened beyond measure?
Who will clothe me with His splendour,
who cover me with His light?
Who will bring me up to Him,
who let my soul dwell in His dwelling?"
As I stand in my place,
He granted me the petition I had uttered.
He granted me of His exalted power,
that it be a support to me in the ages.
He granted me of His dominion,
that it serve me in all ages (in wondrous manner).
He opened my mouth like the mouth of the Frash-Ziwa
and made my lips like its two banks.
Like the water that runs in it,
He filled me with hymns and orders of prayer.
He brought me up to Himself
and let my soul dwell in the dwelling of the Living God.
He showed it the place where He is enthroned,
which is wondrous, bright and enlightened beyond measure.
He clothed me with His splendour
and covered me with His light.
The place where the Great God is enthroned
is without lack and defect.
It is a place whose sun does not set
and whose lamps of light do not grow dark.
And the Living God is victorious.
