Plain text of Fifteenth Book (8)

If the pihta is not prepared for you,

do not give [the alms].

Whoever gives the alms and prepares no pihta

will be struck with sixty rods of ice.

With a scourge of fire [he will be struck]

and tormented in the black water.

When persecution presses you

and the frail false religions trouble you,

when persecution presses you,

speak and call with the voice of life.

If you perform the prayer and prepare no pihta

and partake of bodily food,

when you understand this mystery ......,

then stand on your feet.

On your feet then stand

and perform the prayer sixty-one times.

If you perform this prayer,

your sins and offences will be forgiven you.

You will be healed of the sixty-one blows

and will not sink into the vessels of fire.

You will not sink into the vessels of fire

and not be tormented in the sixty-one boiling cauldrons."

When the men of tested righteousness left their body,

the light rose from here on high.

On high rose the light from here,

on high rose the shining, wondrous root.

On high rose goodness, uprightness and knowledge,

and the radiance of the light was taken from the frail house.

[It was taken] from a stretch of the Tibil,

went and settled in the place of the truthful.

The guardians who were here went

and settled at the Jordan of the place of the truthful.

More and more, stronger and stronger

the voice of life grew (there).

The mixture of brightness that remained in the Tibil

remained hidden everywhere among the dull-witted people.

The radiance rose from it on high,

and the bright murmuring remained.

From that day on

the disciples from that region will not ascend to the light.

They will be tested and tormented,

until they strip the filth from themselves.

Everyone who strips the filth from himself

ascends to the House of Abathur and is set upright there.

Whoever does not strip the filth from himself

is extinguished and perishes, as if he had never been.

To you I call and declare,

you truthful, faithful men.

Shoots, shoots from the last generation

will ascend through my word and my blessing.

They will ascend through my blessing

and be made firm in excellent manner.

I enlightened them and instructed them,

that they stumble not in the world.

Whoever stumbles will die and perish.

Again I have enlightened and instructed you.

Whoever is enlightened and clear,

to him I shall be a helper,

a helper and a support

from the place of darkness to the place of light. —

And God is victorious.

Seventh Piece

An angel of revelation, Manda d-Haije or Jawar, is sent by God into this world to teach and admonish the Nasoraeans. He proclaims the reward of the pious believers and the punishment of the unworthy.

In the name of the great God

be glorified the exalted light. —

From the dwelling of the mighty God the Great One called me,

He called me, gave me commands and made me firm.

The Great One called me and gave me commands,

He equipped me and sent me out into the ages:

to call the call of life

and spread radiance over the house.

To call the call of life,

and to plant the planting of the Great One,

to plant the planting of the Great One

and to draw Jordans in perfect manner,

to plant right plants

and water them with living, flourishing water,

to teach them wisdom, knowledge and praise,

wide and unbounded,

to grant them the pure call,

by which they shall be made firm in this world.

They shall speak in the enlightenment of life

and rouse the sleepers and make them rise.

They shall choose and lay out a way

and set up a boundary stone.

They shall ascend with the knowledge

that came from the House of the great Bihram, an angel of God.

They shall be instructed about the souls

that are worthy of the bright dwelling.

They shall rouse, they shall be taught,

and lights of wondrous kind shall be made for them.

They shall show them the great root of blessing,

from which blessing comes.

The truthful and faithful Nasoraeans

will ascend and behold the place of light.

The truthful and faithful Nasoraeans and the distinguished

will not be held back in this world.

They will not be held back [in this world]

and will not be called to account in the great judgement.

Over them will not be pronounced the sentence

that is pronounced over all beings.

They will not be found guilty in the court

and will not fall into the great Suf-sea,

in which Satan and the false messiah end,

the twelve stars end.

There the seven rebels end,

and judgement is pronounced on them.

There the seven rebels end,

the sons of lack,

the lords of the vain dwelling,

the lords of the frail house.

The Nasoraeans who are not worthy of the House of God

have committed grave sin.

Their body stood in transgression,

and in them was lack and fault.

Even if they understand the treasure (the scriptures) from the Tibil in high measure,

it brings them no benefit.

When they arrive at the great gate of the House of Abathur,

they will be driven back from the gate of the House of Abathur.

From the gate of the House of Abathur they will be driven back

and not behold the place of light.
