A prayer of the priest for the believers and the pious in the community, and warnings to the unbelievers and the disobedient.

In the name of the great God may my name N.N. and that of my wife N.N. be established yonder in the great place, in the House of Perfection.

In the name and in the power of the mighty, strange God, the exalted, who stands above all works, and by His leave through the angels set under His command: Joshamin the pure, Abathur the old, high, hidden, guarded, Manda d-Haije, the exalted in the worlds of light, Silmai and Nidbai, who are set over the Jordan of life and the great baptism of light and who give to souls testimony, name and sign, and Abel, Seth and Enosh, the three sons of the living, radiant, shining, bright, flourishing people, we priests bear this testimony concerning the Mandaean men and women and their sons, who already know their inner selves and perceive their knowledge, who on Sunday and on the eve of the day do not come to the temple, do not keep the order, do not heed their priests and do not stand behind the priests, do not perform the prayer, do not make the prostrations, do not take the pihta, do not extend the pledge of truth, do not establish fellowship with one another, do not baptise their sons, do not let their daughters receive the sign of life, in whose hearts belief in the mighty, first God has no place, who have no compassion for the persecuted and the afflicted, who do not send their wives, sons and daughters to the temple on the eve of the day and on Sunday;

and on the other hand concerning all Mandaeans, men and women baptised in water, the believing men and women, and their sons and daughters, who already know their inner selves, who love their Lord, bear witness to the mighty, first God, without whom nothing was and without whom nothing is, who are baptised in the Jordan and marked with the sign of life, who come to the temple on the eve of the day and on Sunday, keep the fair order, perform the prostrations, stand behind the priests, take the pihta, extend the pledge of truth, establish fellowship with one another, baptise their sons and daughters, let them receive the sign of life, in whose hearts belief in the mighty, first God rests, who feel compassion and mercy for the afflicted, send their wives, sons and daughters to the temple on the eve of the day, perform the service of worship, in whose house almsgiving does not pass the night, but who bring it to the temple.

May the mighty, first God, the exalted, who stands above all works, assist, through the angels who serve Him — Joshamin the pure, Abathur the old, high, hidden, guarded, who in this world is the keeper of justice, Silmai and Nidbai, who are set over the great Jordan of life and the great baptism of light, who in this world call witnesses over the souls, and Gabriel, the messenger, whom by God's power and by the word of his Lord stretched out the heaven without pillars and made firm the earth without density, through whom stars were formed in the heaven, who gave on the earth fruits, grapes and trees, brought radiance to the sun and brightness to the moon, who by the power of God shaped Adam, planted Eve for him as his wife and spoke the blessing over them, so that until the end of the worlds their root and their voice shall not vanish from this world — may they assist all believers and all Mandaeans baptised in water who practise all these good works, perform these kind deeds, bear witness to God, confess Manda d-Haije, and bear witness to and believe in the praise of these three men, sons of the living, radiant, flourishing, bright, shining people.

This prayer we perform and this petition we make, we priests. May God redeem us from the wickedness of this world. May He be to us a helper, supporter, redeemer and deliverer from the guard-houses of the rebels, before which the souls are afraid, from the sword, the misfortune and the plague of this world, from the evil plans of the wicked, from the third tongue, which is softer than fat and sharper than the sword, from the evil cry, from the corrupted crown, from the second death and the eyes of harm.

The blessing that was spoken over the earth with its density, over the heaven with its tent-like canopy, over the shining sun, the moon that shines by night, the stars that glitter and shine in the firmament, over the air, the living water, the fruit of the earth, over Adam, the first man, his wife Eve, his children and peoples, over the messengers and prophets, over the chosen and perfect, over the believers and the perfect ones of light, be granted to them, and to their wives, sons and daughters, their buying and selling, their land and water, their animals and their goods, their seed and their sowing in the field and in the village.

May God be to them a helper and a support in this world of the wicked. What they seek they shall find, what they ask shall be granted them, [as also] to their friends and the friends of their friends.

Further: the Mandaeans who stand by the name of Manda d-Haije only with their mouth, but in their hearts are without faith, who are like evil trees that drink living water but bring forth no fruit, who are like the ravening wolf and the lion that leaps down, who do not come to the temple, do not perform the prayer, do not stand behind the priests, do not take the pihta, do not extend the pledge of truth, do not establish fellowship with one another, bring no alms to the temple, do not bring their wives and children to the temple, do not send their wives and children, do not baptise their sons on the eve of the day and on Sunday and do not let their daughters receive the sign of life, the men who take wives from the twelve gates, the women disciples who enter the twelve gates, whom one cannot teach, instruct or enlighten that life is older than death, light older than darkness, the good more excellent than the wicked, the sweet more pleasant than the bitter, the day older than the night, the upper beings older than the lower, the Jordan of living water older than the turbid water of the place of darkness, to whom you priests speak in teaching without their hearkening, whose hearts are not enlightened to hearken to the man who wants to teach and enlighten them, who forsake the call of life and love the call of darkness, hate the company of life and love the company of darkness, hate radiance and light and love the dwelling of darkness, forsake the Jordan of living water and love the turbid water — against them we call these as witnesses:

The mighty, first God we call as witness against them.

Joshamin, the pure, who rests by the treasures of water and by the mighty, upper, pure springs of light, we call as witness against them, by God's leave.

Abathur, the old, high, hidden, guarded, who is enthroned on high and hidden in the depth, who sees through and understands the worlds and generations, who sees what they do, who is set over the souls to weigh all the works that they do, we call as witness against them.

Abel, Seth and Enosh we call as witnesses against them.

The sun and its radiance, the moon and its brightness we call as witnesses against them.

The Sunday and almsgiving we call as witnesses against them.

The call of life, the word, the command and the warning that came from the House of Abathur and from the House of the great, first God we call as witnesses against them.

The priests with their sign, their prayers, petitions, hymns, orders of prayer, speeches, the crosses of radiance and the olive staves of radiance are called as witnesses against them.

This speech, this command and this warning were granted to us from the earth of light. The angel Enosh, the messenger, brought them and gave them to the priests, to speak of them to the worlds and generations and to make them hear, that they may be believed, so that they speak, are heard, find belief and are not turned away from. If anyone turns away from this speech, this command and this warning, which the angel Enosh, the messenger, brought to this world of the wicked and the great place that is rich in the wicked, then let the dominion turn against him. The sun and its radiance, the moon and its brightness, the water and its power, the wind and its pleasantness, the fire and its shimmer, the earth and its fruits, the heaven and its dew, the world and the believers in it, the temple, the priests, the Sunday, almsgiving, the pihta, the pledge of truth and the mambuha, the Jordan into which they descended, in which they received baptism and from which they received the sign, shall be witnesses against them.

Further, we call these true witnesses against all, man and woman, boys and girls, who profess the name of Manda d-Haije but do not let themselves be baptised in the Jordan and have not marked themselves with the name and sign of life. They stand outside of Truth and do service outside of grace. We priests teach them and awaken them, but they will not hear and believe, so they will be called to account for their own sins. But if they let themselves be taught, bear witness of Manda d-Haije, who is the first messenger, act according to the will of their Lord and according to what the priests tell them, forgiveness of sins will be granted to them. If they do not act and do not hear, do not bear witness to this teaching and do not hearken to them, if they do not stand firm (in faith) and do not believe their priests, forgiveness of sins will not be granted to them.

If they do not do what is told them, do not keep the order, do not bear witness to the teaching which the first messenger commended to them, they will be held to account for the works of their hands. If they are awake and watchful and the soul that dwells in them is awakened, they will not be called to account in the guard-houses of the rebels, the court of judgement, and the hand of the rebels will have no power over them. To their wives also, their sons and daughters, who have come and will come, forgiveness of sins will be granted. To the priests and believers also who bring this teaching to the Mandaeans, forgiveness of sins will be granted.

God is victorious over all works; God is victorious.

But Satan, her children and her creatures all succumb for all eternity.
