Plain text of Right Ginza, Third Book: The Book of the Living, First Teaching (18)

Ruha cast incense (upon the fire),

and Samis bowed before him.

The devil Bel took myrtles boastfully

and went to meet him.

They step forward, bless him and say to him:

"Our blessing come upon you."

The devil Kewan [blessed him] inwardly,

he put vine blossoms in his hand.

He handed a wreath into his hand,

bowed, caressed and kissed him.

The devil Sin blessed him in his heart,

and Ruha blessed him with her palate.

She blessed him with bilurs

and led him with enticing words into the assembly.

When the planets surrounded him,

he cast his hands to his garment.

To his garment he cast his hands

and shook his garment.

He spat and cast out gall,

he shook his ......

He remembered the Uthras, his brothers,

remembered the speech that the Uthras, his brothers, had let him hear.

Long he remembered the speech of the Uthras,

until they set him at their head,

until they set him at their head

and until they gave him the cup in his hand,

until they gave him the cup to drink,

until they did it a second and a third time.

When they did it a second and a third time,

his heart was torn in two.

[His heart was torn in two],

and his body demanded dance of him.

He sprang up and danced in his drunkenness.

When he slackened and had sat down,

he rose and wanted to return to his place.

Then Ruha took the form of his wife Hawwa, who was his sister,

and met him half way.

She made ready a bed of deceit,

made a place of transgression.

She threw the times into confusion,

she arose and took him by the hand.

When she took him by the hand,

he was seized with desire for sin.

When he fell into the intoxication of the planets,

he fell into the desire for evil.

But when I appeared to him in a cloud of splendour

and let him hear a wondrous call,

a wondrous call I let him hear

and cast his heart from its support.

I let the sorceries of Ruha dissolve

and showed him that she was not Hawwa.

I showed him that she was not Hawwa,

he looked at himself and was ashamed before himself.

[He was ashamed], and his inner being felt ashamed,

and he felt guilty.

Guilty he felt,

because every ugly kind was upon him.

I did not hand him Truth,

because he had turned away from the call of life.

He had turned away from the call of life

and from what God had commanded him.

He had left the company of the Uthras, his brothers,

he went and loved the company of the planets.

He had left the company of his wife Hawwa,

he went and fell into the blazing fire.

He saw the furnace of fire:

whoever looks upon it dies,

whoever embraces it is burned.

Whoever strips himself and sleeps with her

falls into perdition.

Into perdition he falls,

and his eyes do not behold the light.

I took bodily form,

went and ascended to their assembly.

All of them, when they beheld me,

threw themselves down and fell on their faces.

They threw themselves down and fell on their faces,

then they stood up and submitted to me.

They submitted, blessed me and said:

"Be our head and the head of our whole world.

Be our head,

and we shall be your followers.

To Ruha in her glory

assign a place among the women.

Among the women assign her a place,

and be our head in this world."

When the planets spoke so to me,

the seducers of this world,

when the planets spoke so to me,

I mocked them and laughed at them all.

I said to the Seven,

who had condemned themselves:

"If you want me to be your head,

if you want me to assign Ruha a place among the women,

then come, break up your festive company,

come, leave your assembly.

Share your secrets with me,

reveal to me all your speeches."

When I sat among them,

I took their secrets from them

and shone in my garment.

I shone in my pure garment,

which is wide and endless.

I disclosed their secrets

and gave the lie to their speech.

Their speech I gave the lie,

I gave the lie to their oaths that they had sworn on Mount Carmel.

I cast Ruha down from her throne

and laid a camel-halter upon her.

I cast her down, struck her with my club

and struck a cleft in her head.

I bound her with her locks

and fastened her to the heart of heaven.

Sin I struck with the whip,

took off his garment and carried it away.

I took his garment away

and left him in a vain garment.

I left him in the garment of consuming fire,

for wrath was upon him.

Wrath was upon him,
