Plain text of Right Ginza, Third Book: The Book of the Living, First Teaching (17)

They confirmed their oaths,

all of them who confess falsehood.

They confirmed the oaths

that they had sworn on Mount Carmel.

At the feast that the Seven held,

all the aeons and demons spoke.

The drums and songs spoke in it,

the head of all sorcery,

the head of the great ensnaring,

by which all worlds are ensnared.

The horns and bilurs spoke in it,

the head of all idolatrous slaughtering,

the head of all battles,

by which all worlds are ensnared.

The zither of lust spoke in it,

through which lust spread over them.

They spoke in it with tambourines,

with which all the Ruhas speak.

With them all the Ruhas speak

and make a catch in the world.

They spoke in it with horns,

spoke in it with all ..........

They spoke in it with the flutes of the liar,

from which all falsehood proceeded.

They spoke in it with mighty din,

so that a din arose in the world.

A din arose in the world,

so that they shook the whole world.

They shook the whole world,

shook the earth from its foundations.

They shook the anvil of the earth,

shook the whole firmament.

The whole firmament they shook

and brought captivity everywhere.

At their sound and the sound of their din

a spirit rose up out of the sea.

A spirit rose up out of the sea,

and all vines and trees were planted.

When the vines and trees were planted,

their sound fell upon the ear of a son of Adam.

When their sound fell upon his ear,

Adam's son awoke from sleep.

Adam's son awoke from sleep

and raised his face toward the place of light.

He called his helpers,

called the gentle, steadfast Uthras.

He said to Hibil-Uthra,

the man who had made him hear his voice:

"What has happened in the house,

what in this world?

What has happened in the house,

that the sound of the din rises to heaven?

The whole earth trembled,

the whole firmament was crushed.

The heart of all worlds was seized

and moved from its place."

When he spoke so,

a tear gathered in his eye.

When he spoke so,

I shone in my garment.

I shone in the garment of living fire

that my Lord had bestowed upon me.

I shone in the pure garment,

which is wide and endless.

I drew near to him, took him by the palm of his right hand

and let his heart rest again upon its support.

I calmed him and told him

how the Seven had acted.

Further I told him how it had been done in his place

and how they forge a plot.

It is the voice of the planets,

who took evil counsel.

They took evil counsel,

saying: "Let us stir up strife."

They said: "Let us stir up strife,"

they said: "Let us (seize) the world

and bring lack and fault upon it."

I said to him:

"Be calm and composed, son of Adam,

and have no grief on their account.

Have no grief on account of the planets

and Namrus, the mother of the world.

I shall grant you a spectacle upon your pursuers

and humble your pursuers.

Calm Hawwa, your wife,

and let there be no lack and fault in you."

After I had spoken so to him,

I spoke also to all his brothers.

Hibil rejoices in his splendour,

and Sitil calls aloud to his Helper.

Sitil rejoices over his splendour

and Anos over the speech that his brothers, the Uthras, let him hear;

they rejoice, leap and exult,

and they care nothing for all the world.

When Adam had eaten and been refreshed,

he called his wife Hawwa and instilled hope in her,

trusting that Hibil-Uthra

had wrapped himself up and lain down in his place.

But in one of Adam's sons

lack came into his mind.

Lack came into his mind,

sleep did not come upon his eyes.

His heart trembled,

and his body stood and shook.

He formed evil plans

and left his father Adam.

He left his mother Hawwa,

left his brothers while they slept.

He left all his brothers

and climbed up the wall.

Up the wall he climbed

and betook himself to their assembly.

When Ruha saw him,

she laughed, rejoiced and was of good cheer.

Ruha rejoiced and was of good cheer,

and all the planets rejoiced.

Ruha fetched fire,

and the devil Samis fetched incense.

Ruha bowed down before him in feigned reverence,

she stretched her body out and flattered him.
