They began to devise plans and said:

"We shall catch and seize Adam.

and hold him back with us in the world."

They said:

"When he speaks in a gentle tone,

we shall speak in a rebellious tone.

When he eats and drinks,

we shall ensnare the world.

We shall ensnare the world

and create in it various shapes.

We shall take .....

and practise embracing in the world.

Embracing we shall practise in the world

and found a congregation in the world.

A church we shall found in the world,

ensnare him and bring him into our church.

We shall receive him into our church,

catch and seize his heart.

We shall ensnare him with horns and flutes,

that he may not break loose from us.

We shall create in it seven shapes,

of various kinds and sorts."

While the wicked devised their schemes in their wickedness,

I pursued good plans,

to establish good in the world.

I called the Uthras, my brothers,

the men who make the lineage firm.

I called the Uthras, my brothers,

gentle, steadfast Uthras.

I stepped forward and said to the Uthras, my brothers,

who are set over the lineage:

"Do you not know, Uthras, my brothers,

what the planets are planning?

The planets stand there planning and saying:

'We shall seduce the lineage of life.

Seduce the lineage of life we shall

and cut it off with us in the world.'"

When the Uthras heard this,

the gentle, steadfast Uthras,

they said:

"Grant us that we plant a plantation for Adam

and make his lineage numerous.

We shall create for Adam ...........

and plant him firmly.

Firmly we shall plant him

and prepare a wedding for him.

A wedding we shall prepare for Adam,

instruct him and let him take a wife.

We shall give Adam a wife

and create a companion for him.

A companion we shall create for him

and make his lineage numerous.

Hymns and orders of prayer we shall recite,

and the prayer shall be performed to God.

We shall ....... the planets,

that they may come to our assembly.

They shall come to our assembly

and be with us.

With us they shall be,

and Adam shall triumph over them all."

I and the Uthras, my brothers,

established all good.

We established good

and prepared a wedding for Adam in the world.

We gave him Hawwa as a wife,

as she had been planted in her place.

We stand and rejoice,

we rejoice over him in high measure.

But soon it pained Ruha,

and the planets, all of them were grieved.

Ruha took incense

and pronounces over it a word of falsehood.

One brought a garment,

one brought a coat.

One brought gold,

one boots and shoes.

One brought bread and drink,

one brought ......

All twelve constellations

in all kinds and sorts:

some of them were carpenters,

some of their demons wove wreaths,

their devs were obedient servants,

some of their Ekurs cupbearers,

their Hmurthas were dancers,

their goblins jugglers.

Myrtles they brought in loads,

fragrant flowers in heaps.

They brought the great jasmine,

which came from the dwelling of life.

They brought the great jasmine

and brought lack and fault upon it.

They brought Maru astargan,

which came from the dwelling of the Uthras.

They brought water-mint and basil,

whose fragrance came from the dwelling of the two pure mountains.

and did perversity to them.

They brought all fragrant flowers

of every kind and sort

Their goblins they made cooks,

their demons bakers,

their stammerers they made butchers,

their satyrs bakers,

all their fiends cupbearers.

All were obedient servants

and obeyed Adam and his whole lineage.

I and the Uthras, my brothers,

brought their wickedness to naught.

Their wickedness we brought to naught

and established good for Adam.
