One of the children of truth

weeps in the dwelling of darkness:

"I am a daughter of pious men,

a daughter of faithful men.

I am a daughter of the pious;

who cast me into the dwelling of darkness?"

"Your basket filled with bread,

which you withheld from the hungry.

Your jar filled with drink,

which you withheld from the thirsty.

Your flask filled with oil,

which you withheld from the gravely sick.

Your chest filled with garments,

which you withheld from him who wished to clothe himself.

Your made-up bed,

which you withheld from him who wished to lie down.

The road, trodden broad and leading to its goal,

which you barred to those who arrived.

As you barred, so shall you be barred

within this world."

"If only I had known that I would die,

if only I had known that I would stumble!

Then I would not have withheld my basket filled with bread

from the hungry.

My jar filled with drink

I would not have withheld from the thirsty.

My flask filled with oil

I would not have withheld from the gravely sick.

My chest filled with garments

I would not have withheld from him who wished to clothe himself.

My made-up bed

I would not have withheld from him who wished to lie down.

The road, trodden broad and leading to its goal,

I would not have barred to those who arrived.

As I barred, so I was barred

within this world.

But we have heard of You, Good One,

that You leave no one behind in the cut-off place.

Good One, I have sinned and led to sin,

but forgive me my sins and transgressions.

.......... my father, who distributed bread,

and my mother, who gave alms."

"Your father, who distributed bread,

did it for himself;

your mother, who gave alms,

did it for her own soul." —

Forgiveness of sins and transgressions will be left to your souls

through God's mercy, for the faith and truth of the believers.
