Plain text of Book Three · Fifty-second Piece
"Why do you stand so long there;
whose way are you guarding?" —
"I guard the way of him
who must sit in the world."
"Whence came, whence is the form
of the man whose way you guard?" —
"His garment is a garment of radiance,
and light is laid over his shoulders.
He pressed through the worlds, came,
split the firmament and revealed himself.
The scales are set up before him,
he weighs works and reward.
Works and reward he weighs
and joins the spirit with the soul.
When he weighs someone and he proves full weight,
they raise him up and grant him a support in life.
When he weighs someone and he does not prove full weight,
he leaves him behind in this world." —
For us, who praise You,
You will forgive our sins and transgressions. —
And the Living God is victorious.
