Plain text of Book Three · Forty-seventh Piece

The soul speaks in the ages:

"I am a crown of beryl,

a crown of beryl am I,

a shining girdle of gold.

A crown of beryl am I,

that is set up before the Great Living God."

The soul weeps in the ages,

its name is dear to the worlds.

The heaven is moved by its voice,

the earth is shaken by its tears.

The garment of Adam weeps,

which came forth from the sandarac tree.

The lord of the earth weeps,

and the oppressed of the ..... answer him.

The chosen ones gather,

the little birds take possession of the mountains.

The soul speaks in the ages:

"I am a crown of beryl.

I am a crown from the house of life:

who brought me away and cast me into the dwelling of the wicked?

They cast me into the dwelling of the wicked,

the dwelling in which the sinners live.

The wicked took me captive,

all the worlds seek to beguile me.

By the power of my Lord

and the enlightenment that came from the house of life,

Satan could not take me captive,

all the worlds could not beguile me." —

And praised be the Living God.
