Plain text of Book Three · Forty-fifth Piece
Though still young, my measure became full,
though still young, my departure took place.
Whom shall I call, and who shall answer me,
who shall be a helper to me?
I will call to the voice of the Living God,
I will call to the lamp that is all light,
I will call to the man of tried righteousness,
who gave alms in faith.
He gives alms in faith,
and the Living God set him up in perfect manner.
...... Truth,
and the Knowledge of Life heard my call.
He came, the man of tried righteousness came,
who gives alms in faith.
He gave alms in faith
with a true and faithful heart.
The servant of the Living God came (and said):
"I shall be a helper to you.
I shall lead you past the planets,
the men who guard the Tibil.
I shall lead you past Satan and the evil spirit,
who are called the chief toll-keepers.
I shall lead you up and show you the vine
that stands outside the worlds."
The friends of the chosen one are set up.
Outside the worlds he stands
and calls to the perfected.
The voice of the Living God calls,
we behold him in the place of light. —
Praised be the Living God, the Living God is victorious.
