The soul, the soul of the living, says:

"Who shut me up in the Tibil?

From the day I fell into Adam,

I beheld four mysteries.

I went to the likeness of the water;

the water is the life of this world.

I went to the likeness of the sun;

the sun is the light of this world.

I went to the likeness of the moon;

the moon is the reckoning of this world."

The soul, the soul of the living, says:

"Who cast me into the Tibil?

Who cast me into the Tibil,

who enclosed me within the wall?

Who cast me into the stocks,

which equal the fullness of the worlds?

Who put a chain about me

that is beyond measure?

Who clothed me with a coat

of all colours and kinds?

Yes, it is the Knowledge of Life,

who set out to come into the world.

Truly, he brought me out of the earth,

drew me out of ..........:

He brought me out of the stocks

that equal the fullness of the worlds.

He took the chain from me

that is beyond measure.

He took off me the coat

of all colours and kinds.

He who had loosed me went before me,

he who had bound me ran behind me.

I ran and held fast to him who loosed me;

I ran, and he who had bound me did not overtake me.

Life answered me from the fruits,

radiance answered me from afar.

From a place that is wide and far

I perceived and knew my Lord." —

And the Living God is victorious.
