A soul (am I) from the house of the Great Living God,

a soul from the house of the Mighty Living God,

a soul from the house of the Great Living God.

Who brought me from the house of the Great Living God,

who cast me into the Tibil?

Who cast me into the Tibil,

into a body without hands and feet?

I sit here and guard

the lodging entrusted to me.

I sit here and guard it

until my measure is full.

When my measure is full,

the liberator comes.

When the liberator comes,

he looses me and leads me to the place of light.

He who loosed me goes before me,

he who bound me runs behind me.

I ran and held fast to him who loosed me;

those who bound me did not overtake me. —

The Living God is exalted and victorious,

and victorious is the man who went this way.
