Whose soul is this,

so well built, so well constructed?

So well built, so constructed it is,

so well equipped, so equipped.

So well equipped, so equipped it is,

so true and faithful.

It sits in a cloud of radiance,

and angels prepare a support for it.

Angels of light go before it,

Truth makes smooth its way.

The soul passed through the prison,

left the house of sorrow in haste.

The soul goes on its way

until it comes to the house of the toll-keepers.

The toll-keepers call to the servants,

to the men who watch the wealth:

"Take all the weapons with you

and go out halfway along the road.

See whose soul this is,

so well built, so constructed.

So well built, so constructed it is,

so well equipped, so equipped.

So well equipped, so equipped it is,

so true and faithful.

It sits in a cloud of radiance,

and angels prepare a support for it.

Angels of light go before it,

Truth makes smooth its way.

It passed through the prison,

left the house of sorrow in haste."

Did they not take all the weapons

and go out halfway along the road?

But the soul rose up to the abode of life,

while the Seven turned back in shame. —

The Living God is exalted and victorious,

and victorious is the man who went this way.
