A well-sealed letter it is,

that goes out of the world,

a letter written with Kushta,

sealed with the signet ring of the Great Ones.

The perfect wrote it,

faithful men secured it.

They hung it round the neck of the soul

and sent it to the gate of life.

How was it that Daium saw

that the soul bore the letter?

How was it that Daium saw her,

while her seven sons were gathered around her?

These say:

"Who wrote the letter,

whose secret we did not know?

The letter is written with Kushta,

sealed with the signet ring of the Great Ones.

Pious, perfect men wrote it,

faithful men secured it.

They hung it round the neck of the soul

and sent it to the gate of life."

The soul in her wisdom

spread splendour over it and kept it safe,

wrapped it in light and enfolded it.

The Seven bowed their heads,

and the soul rose above them.

A wreath of ether was set on her head

and she was taken out of the world.

The soul flies and journeys

until she came to the streams of water.

When she arrived at the streams of water,

the great outflow of splendour went out to meet her.

He took her by the palm of the right hand

and led her over the streams of water.

They set her upright in their abode,

at the place where the angels sit.

Life upheld life,

life found its own.

Its own found life,

and Bar-Haije brought his own there. —

And God is victorious.

My enlightenment and my praise carry me across.

You who lead across the watch, lead me across,

the cloud of light, and let it rise up

victorious to the place of light.
