Plain text of Book Three · Twenty-second Section
I am delivered, my measure is full,
I am delivered, my number is full,
I am delivered, my measure is full. —
When the soul strips off the body,
the trunk keeps its mouth (shut),
the chamber shows stiffness.
The seven planets
surround my body and sit there.
They say to her (the soul):
"When you go out, soul,
we shall bring you in before the toll-keepers." —
"If I go out, the demons stand there,
if I turn back, my number is indeed full.
Where is the course that I ran,
where is the greeting that my hands offered?
Where are the sandals of my feet,
which I wore out with my friends?
Where do you go, keeper of Kushta,
while the demons have surrounded my body?
The demons have surrounded my body,
and my eyes grow dim in my head."
I lifted my eyes to the height,
with my soul I looked toward the house of life.
I lifted my eyes to the height
and beheld the man, my helper.
"Help me, help me," the soul cries to God,
"help me against them and do not forsake me."
By His leave the helper helped me from the midst of the Seven,
lifted me above the toll-keepers,
brought me up and set me upright in the house of perfection. —
God is held high and is victorious,
and victorious is the man who went here.
The soul rejoices, feels joy,
that Hibil-Ziwa comes
to him from the house of life.
