Plain text of Right Ginza, Third Book: The Book of the Living, First Teaching (8)
A soul is cast into his body,
and they eat bodily food.
By the power of the living fire
the consuming fire speaks.
The consuming fire speaks,
and all things, this and that, arise from it.
When the leaves, flowers and herbs come into being,
and all fruits, grapes and trees
that adorn the world,
then by the fragrance of the living water and the living fire
their foul odour will become sweet-smelling.
From the fodder that the devouring fire devours,
your food will come to you.
Three Uthras will come
and guard the soul.
They will make the call of life heard
and light up the frail house.
Two Uthras will come
and go hither at the head of the water.
They will bring water
and make a river in the world.
A river they will make in the world
and spread splendour over it.
They will plant plants ...........
They will be full of faith, wisdom and insight
and make a noble call heard.
A noble call they will make heard
and spread splendour over the house.
The flow that pours out of the water
that falls upon the earth Tibil,
the flow of the earth Tibil
shall serve you as water when you thirst.
The house of the earth Tibil
shall serve you as a guard.
Of your followers who come forth from you
guards shall be made for you.
They shall be guards over you,
who watch over your rings.
Over your rings they shall watch,
over the fetter that equals the fullness of the worlds.
They shall watch over the high stocks,
which are heavier than all worlds."
When the wicked one heard this,
his heart was full of fury.
Full of fury was his heart,
and he shook the anvil of the earth.
The anvil of the earth he shook,
he shook the rings,
he shook the fetter
that equals the fullness of the worlds.
I arose in the power of the Living One
and made a petition to the great God.
Then I called forth and made a wall about him, an iron wall,
and laid a ring about him.
A ring I laid about him,
whose strength no one can match.
No one can match its strength
to move him from his place.
With my heel I stamped upon the earth
and shook his heart from its support.
I laid a wrapping about his heart
and tied a knot about his body.
I tied seven knots about him,
so that the voice of darkness was forced out of him.
I tied the great knot
and made all his speech void.
With twelve wrappings I wrapped him,
so that his twelve (evil) thoughts remained with him.
I bound him with a loud voice,
so that all their fault departed from them.
I bound him with a fetter,
so that the seven ..... remained with him.
I struck at him with the club and smote him
and split a cleft in his head.
I made him groan like women
and made him weep like a child.
I made filth his food,
foul water his drink.
I extinguished the burning and the glow
of the consuming, destructive fire.
I took the greed from him
and clothed him with rage.
I levelled a path for the good
and made a gate for the world.
A gate for the world I made
and set up a throne in it.
A throne for the good I set up
and prepared a lamp at it.
A lamp I prepared at it,
perfect beyond measure.
A watch-tower for the servants of salvation [I set up]
at the place where they live in fullness, without lack.
I set up thrones for them
and handed them garments.
The river of the great God I made
and set guards at it.
I set two Uthras at it,
abundantly provided, without lack.
A throne I set up for the chief of the beings of splendour
and set up a lamp before it.
A lamp I set up,
perfect beyond measure.
With enlightenment and praise,
with what God let me hear,
with enlightenment and praise
I arose and went to the house of the Mighty One.
In the joy that I felt,
I spoke to the Mighty One.
The Great One rejoiced and showed Himself steadfast,
He was exceedingly pleased with me.
God showed me His gratitude
and raised my splendour beyond its former measure.
He said to me:
"May Truth keep you safe, O good one,
and keep safe the word in which you have spoken."
God turned in His joy
to the Uthras and said:
"Praise the power of the man
who healed the water by fire.
Praise the power of the man
