Plain text of Book Three · Eleventh Section
In goodness be remembered the Great One,
in goodness be remembered the Mighty One,
in goodness be remembered the Great One,
who delivered me and took me out of the world,
out of the world of want
and out of the vain works.
He made me and clothed me with splendour,
as the chosen men clothe themselves with it.
With it the chosen men clothe themselves,
the true, the faithful.
I put my head into it,
and I became like the fullness of the worlds.
I opened my eyes in it,
and my eyes were filled with light.
I spread my wings in it,
and wings of splendour were formed for me.
Wings of splendour were formed for me
and the other forms, good and shining.
I sing hymns and go
to all the souls.
When they saw me,
they gathered and went out to meet me.
They gathered and went out to meet me,
and all greeted me.
They say:
"Child of the good ones! Speak to your Lord:
When will the captives be delivered?
When will the captives be delivered
and will it become wide for the straitened, for whom it is narrow?"
"Before I speak to my Lord,
I will tell you:
All who did ugly deeds
remain sitting here in stocks,
until the Euphrates dries up at its mouth
and the Tigris changes its course,
until all the seas dry up
and all rivers, brooks and springs pour themselves out.
Then he who was thrown into the well will come up,
and he who is bound with the fetter will be free.
It will become wide for the souls
who dwell here in the house of sorrow.
It will become wide for the nobles
who once possessed and now have nothing.
It will become wide for the widows
who bear distress in the Tibil.
They bear distress in the Tibil,
then they shall be delivered from the hand of the Seven.
From the hand of the Seven they shall be delivered;
it will become wide for the straitened, for whom it is narrow." —
God is held high and is victorious,
and victorious is the man who went here.
"I wish to go with the two angels
who have come to me.
I fear that I must go with the keepers of the watch-houses
who camp by the way." —
"Why do you fear, soul,
when angels accompany you?"
