A soul am I of the Great Life,

a soul am I of the mighty Life,

a soul am I of the Great Life.

Who brought me out of the house of life?

Out of the house of life, who brought me,

who sent me into the Tibil and let me dwell in it?

Who let me dwell in the Tibil,

who let me sit in the house of my enemies?

Who let me sit in the house of my enemies,

so that my treasurers know nothing of me?

My treasurers do not know of me,

that I have been set in the house of my enemies.

The angel went forth and came,

until he reached the bodily trunk.

He reached the bodily trunk,

and spoke to the hidden Adam:

"O hidden Adam,

who brought you from the house of life?

Who brought you from the house of life,

who sent you into the Tibil and let you dwell there?

Who sent you and let you dwell in the Tibil,

who let you sit in the house of your enemies?

Who let you sit in the house of your enemies,

so that your treasurers know nothing of you?

Your treasurers do not know of you,

that you have been set in the house of your enemies.

If it were not that the Great One knows of you,

that the Mighty One knows of you,

that the Great One knows of you,

He would not have taken you away from His midst.

He would not have taken you away from His midst,

nor let you dwell in this Tibil.

He would not have let you dwell in this Tibil,

nor set you in the house of your enemies."

Then the hidden Adam spoke

and answered the man who had questioned him:

"My guide, the Great One knows of me,

the Mighty One knows of me,

the Great One knows of me:

the world that is to come we cannot suppress."

When he heard this from him,

he rejoiced in him exceedingly.

He, yes he, had brought him here,

now he became his escort to the world beyond.

He took off [his garment] and clothed him in his own garment,

he led him away, lifted him up and set him upright in the house of the mighty (Lord).

He took him by the right hand

and handed him over to his own treasurers.

His treasurers rejoiced in him;

they became guardians to him.

Guardians they became to him,

led him into their treasure-house and hid him in it. —

And God is victorious.
