Plain text of Right Ginza, Third Book: The Book of the Living, First Teaching (5)
they and their demons and devs,
all of them pay tribute to me.
They stand there and pay tribute to me,
and daily they bow down before me."
When the king of darkness spoke so,
Ruha tottered down from her throne.
Ruha cried and wept,
she with all her Hmurthas.
Ruha spoke to her son,
informed the king of darkness:
"There is One who is greater than you
and whose power surpasses all your worlds.
There is a world more vast than yours,
in which the mighty dwell.
The mighty dwell in it,
and their form shines more than all worlds."
When Namrus had so spoken
before the sinking mountain,
he at once filled out his garment completely
and became like the fullness of the worlds.
He became full of evil bitterness,
...... in wickedness,
he spat and cast out spittle,
glowing like fire.
He took counsel in wickedness
and gathered a feeble host.
A feeble host he gathered and said:
"I shall arise and ascend from the place of darkness.
I shall fasten my band to the earth and uproot it,
and with my rope I shall encircle the whole world.
I shall swallow it
and hurl the mighty down from their thrones."
The wicked one became full of evil bitterness,
he opened his corrupt mouth,
he opened his stinking mouth,
so that his foul odour spread forth.
He opened his stinking mouth,
wide like the fullness of the worlds.
When I beheld him,
I showed myself to him in the garment given by the Mighty One;
in the garment of the Mighty One I showed myself to him,
which is wide and endless.
When I appeared to him in vast splendour,
vast and surpassing all the world,
I showed him the olive staff of living water
that my Lord had bestowed on me.
I showed him the olive staff of living water,
with which the rebels are struck down.
I showed him the wreath of living fire,
at the sight of which the demons are terrified.
When I appeared to Namrus,
she cried Woe, woe!
When I appeared to the giant,
all his hosts left him.
When his hosts left him,
he turned against his crowds,
turned against the warriors
who take up weapons against him,
turned against all the demons,
devs, Hmurthas and Liliths.
He arose and destroyed the whole world.
He embraced it with all his strength
and buried half his mouth in the earth.
He took twelve ...... of dust
and swallowed of the place of darkness.
He swallowed the black water,
swallowed all the demons and devs that were in it.
[He swallowed?] all the Hmurthas and Liliths;
he arose and destroyed the whole world.
His eyes glowed blood-red,
and his heart stood in grief.
His heart stood in grief,
because he now stood empty in the world.
Again I appeared to him with the call of the great God,
and the crown fell from his head.
When the crown fell from his head,
his gall trailed along the earth.
From the breath that came from his mouth
the mountains rise up and seethe.
The mountains rise up and seethe
from the poison that came from the mouth of Ur.
I appeared to him with the power of the Great One,
and some of his breath came upon my garment.
When some of his breath came upon my garment,
the blazing fire was extinguished.
The blazing fire was extinguished.
He embraced the earth and swallowed it.
When he embraced the earth and swallowed it,
his navel fell upon the gate of the vein of darkness.
When his navel shook upon the vein of darkness,
all the darkness took form from him.
Then the gate of darkness widened,
and he seized it with his heart.
With his heart he seized the darkness,
the vessel from which he had come.
I seized his eyes,
crushed his heart.
I loosened his ......,
squeezed his liver.
I laid his belly in the bowels
and wrapped him with four cloths.
I laid a bandage about his navel
and bound a knot about his heart.
I laid poison in his bowels
and gall in his whole body.
A tear fell into his eye,
glowing like fire.
He was bound with a fetter
that was thicker than he.
Thicker than he it was,
and it crushed his bones.
A muzzle was laid about his mouth,
and he was bridled with an iron bridle.
He was gagged in hands and feet,
Woe fell upon his side.
Cramps fell upon his head,
his eyes went blind and were not bright.
Speech became heavy for the dev in his mouth,
and he shut himself up in his own vessel.
In his own vessel he shut himself up,
