Plain text of Hymn I

Adored be God, when His sign riseth up from the eastern horizon of Heaven; they who accompany it extol Him.

Here is N, the Victorious, and he saith:—

O thou radiant Orb, sign of God, who arisest each day from the Horizon, shine thou upon the face of N who adoreth God at dawn, and propitiateth Him at the gloaming.

Let the soul of N come forth with thee into heaven, let him journey in the Mââtit boat and finish his course in the Sektit boat till he reach in heaven unto the Stars which set.

He saith, as he invoketh his Lord, the Eternal one:—

Hail to Thee, O God, Lord of the Two Horizons, the Self-Subsisting; beautiful is the rising of Thy sign from the horizon, enlightening the two Earths with its rays. All the angels are in exultation when they see the sign of Thee, the King of Heaven, which maketh its abode in front of Thee.

The angel abideth at the prow of the bark of the sun, that he may destroy all Thine adversaries.

They who dwell in the Unseen Realm are coming forth to meet Thy Majesty, and to gaze upon the beautiful signs of Thee.

And I too come to Thee that I may be among Thy servants and see Thy sign each day; let me not be detained, let me not be repulsed.

Let my limbs be renewed by the contemplation of Thy glories, like all Thy servants, for I am one of those who honoured Thee upon earth.

Let me reach the Land of Ages, let me gain the Land of Eternity; for Thou, my Lord, hast destined them for me.

N; he saith:—

Hail to Thee, O God, whose sign riseth up from the Horizon in union with Truth; it traverseth heaven in peace and all men see it as it goeth forward. And after being concealed from them it presenteth itself at the dawn of each day.

Brisk is the bark under Thy Majesty.

Thy rays are upon men's faces; the golden glories they cannot be told: not to be described are Thy beams.

The blessed lands, the colours of Punit are seen in them; that men may form an estimate of that which is hidden from their faces.

Alone art Thou, O God, when Thy sign riseth up upon the Sky; let me advance steadily in Thy way, without a pause, O Lord whom none can outstrip.

A mighty march is Thy sign's; leagues by millions, and hundreds of thousands, in a small moment it hath travelled them, and it setteth.

Thou completest the hours of the Night, according as Thou hast measured them out. And when Thou hast completed them according to Thy rule, day dawneth.

Thy sign presenteth itself at its place, as it riseth from the Horizon.

N, he saith, as he adoreth Thee when Thy light shineth; he saith to Thee when it riseth up at dawn, as he exalteth Thine appearing;

Thou comest forth, most glorious one, fashioning and forming all things without any labour.

Grant that I may attain to the Heaven of eternity and the abode of Thy servants; let me be united with the venerable and mighty glorified ones of the Hereafter; let me come forth with them to behold Thy signs, as the light fadeth at the gloaming, when the sky enfoldeth it.

And when Thy sign turneth to the West, mine hands are in adoration to Thee as one who liveth; for it is Thou who hast created Eternity.

I have set Thee in my heart unceasingly, who art more mighty than all powers.

N, he saith:—

Adoration to Thee, Giver of light to the earth; Thy sign ariseth out of the golden dawn and the sky bringeth it forth, that it may give light to the whole circumference which the solar orb enlighteneth.

Mighty Enlightener, who raisest up the tribes of men by Thy provision, and givest holiday to all districts, towns and places of worship; and raisest food, nourishment and dainties.

Most Mighty one, master of masters, who defendest every abode of Thine against wrong, Most Glorious one in Thine evening, Most Illustrious in Thy morning.

Glorify Thou N in the Hereafter, grant that he may come into the Unseen Realm without defect and free from wrong, and set him among the faithful and venerable ones.

Let him be united with the souls of the Hereafter, let him sail about in the country of Aarru after a joyful journey.

Here is N.

Come forth into Heaven, sail across the firmament and enter into the company of those who shine as stars, let salutation be made to thee in the Bark, let invocation of God be made in the Morning Bark. Contemplate the sun within its ark and give thanks to God for His sign daily. See the Ant fish in its birth from the emerald stream, and see the Abtu fish and its rotations.

And let the offender fall prostrate, when he meditates destruction for me, by blows upon his back-bone.

The sun springeth forth with a fair wind; the Evening Bark speedeth on and reacheth the Haven; the servants on the bark are in exultation when they look upon it; the heart of the faithful is delighted at the overthrow of the adversary of their Lord.

See the angel at the Look-out of the ship, and at his sides the angel of record and Truth. All the angels are in exultation when they behold the dawn coming in peace to give new life to the hearts of the glorified, and here is N along with them.
