Plain text of Kanda 2 · ii. 3. 5
The origin of the "king's evil", the "bad illness" and the "wife's disease" is told thus; one who knows the origin of these illnesses is not visited by them. For one who is seized by the bad illness he should offer this oblation to the Adityas; he has recourse to the Adityas with their own share, and they free him from his evil case. He should offer at the new moon; thus with its waxing he makes him wax. The Puronuvakya is, "He is born ever new"; thereby he bestows life upon him. The Yajya is, "The shoot which the Adityas make to wax"; thereby he makes him wax.
