Plain text of Kanda 2 · ii. 3. 3

The angels, desiring glory, performed a sacrificial session; to the provision, the king among them, glory came; he went to the hill, the Radiant followed him; the Radiant and the provision united; the Mighty, being parted from the sacrifice, followed after them; to them he said, "Make me to sacrifice." For him they offered this sacrifice, to the Radiant on eight potsherds, to the Mighty on eleven potsherds, to the provision an oblation; thereby they conferred upon him brilliance, power, and splendour. For one who is parted from the sacrifice he should offer this sacrifice, to the Radiant on eight potsherds, to the Mighty on eleven potsherds, to the provision an oblation; in that it is offered to the Radiant, thereby brilliance is bestowed; in that to the Mighty, power; in that to the provision, splendour. One whose desire is not fulfilled should offer on eleven potsherds to the Radiant and the provision; he has recourse to his own Lord with his own share, and He unites him with his desire; his desire is fulfilled. One who desires splendour should offer on eight potsherds to the Radiant and the provision; he has recourse to God with their own share, and He bestows upon him splendour; he becomes resplendent. One who desires a village should offer on eleven potsherds to the Lord of Prayer; he has recourse to Him with his own share, and He subjects his fellows to him; he becomes possessed of a village. The Yajya and the Anuvakya have the word "troop"; thus he makes him possess troops of his fellows.
