Plain text of Yasht 2. Haptan Yasht (Yasht of the Seven Angels)

May God the Wise Lord be glorified! . . .

Ashem Vohu: Holiness is the best of all good. . . .

I confess myself a worshipper of God, a follower of the messenger Zarathushtra, one who hates the devils and obeys the laws of God;

For devotion, prayer, thanksgiving, and glorification unto God, the holy and master of holiness. . . .

1 To God the Wise Lord, bright and glorious, and to His holy angels;

To the Good Mind; to Peace, whose breath is friendly, and who is more powerful to destroy than all other creatures; to the heavenly Wisdom, made by God, and to the Wisdom acquired through the ear, made by God;

2 To Holiness, the fairest; to the much-desired Helper; to the instrument made by God; and to the good Fruition, with eyes of love, made by God and holy;

To the Kingdom of God; to the metals; to Mercy and Charity.

3 To the good Devotion, and to the good Righteousness, with eyes of love, made by God and holy;

To Wholeness, the master; to the prosperity of the seasons and to the years, the masters of holiness;

And to Immortality, the master; to fatness and flocks; to the plenty of corn; and to the powerful healing plant Gaokerena, made by God.

4 (At the morning prayer): To God the Friend, lord of wide pastures, and to the Pleasant Pasture.

(At the noon prayer): To God the Giver of Holiness, and to the Fire, His sign.

(At the afternoon prayer): To God, the tall Lord, and to water, made by God.

5 (At the evening prayer): To the souls of the faithful and to the females that bring forth flocks of males; to the prosperity of the seasons; to the well-shapen and tall-formed Strength; to Victory, made by God, and to the crushing Ascendant.

(At the dawn prayer): To the holy, devout, fiend-smiting angel of Obedience, who makes the world grow; to God the Most Just Judge and to Righteousness, who makes the world grow, who makes the world increase;

Be thanksgiving, with devotion, prayer, thanksgiving, and glorification!

Yatha ahu vairyo: The will of the Lord is the law of holiness. . . .

6 We offer devotion to God the Wise Lord, bright and glorious; we give thanks for His holy angels, the all-ruling, the all-beneficent.

We offer devotion to God, the Giver of the Good Mind; we give thanks for Peace, whose breath is friendly, and who is more powerful to destroy than all other creatures; we give thanks for the heavenly Wisdom, made by God; we give thanks for the wisdom acquired through the ear, made by God.

7 We offer devotion to God, the Giver of Holiness, the fairest; we give thanks for the much-desired Helper; we give thanks for the instrument made by God; we give thanks for the good Fruition, with eyes of love, made by God and holy.

We offer devotion to God, the Lord of the Kingdom; we give thanks for the metals; we give thanks for Mercy and Charity.

8 We offer devotion to God, the Giver of good Devotion; we give thanks for the good Righteousness, with eyes of love, made by God and holy.

We offer devotion to God, the Giver of Wholeness; we give thanks for the prosperity of the seasons; we give thanks for the years, the holy and masters of holiness.

We offer devotion to God, the Giver of Immortality; we give thanks for fatness and flocks; we give thanks for the plenty of corn; we give thanks for the powerful healing plant Gaokerena, made by God.

9 (At the morning prayer): We offer devotion to God the Friend, lord of wide pastures; we give thanks for the Pleasant Pasture.

(At the noon prayer): We offer devotion to God the Giver of Holiness, and we give thanks for the Fire, His sign.

(At the afternoon prayer): We offer devotion to God, the tall and shining Lord, the Lord of the females; we give thanks for the holy waters, made by God.

10 (At the evening prayer): We remember the good, powerful, beneficent souls of the faithful; we give thanks for the females who bring forth flocks of males; we give thanks for the prosperity of the seasons; we give thanks for the well-shapen, tall-formed Strength; we give thanks for Victory, made by God; we give thanks for the crushing Ascendant.

(At the dawn prayer): We give thanks for the holy, tall-formed, fiend-smiting angel of Obedience, who makes the world grow, the holy and master of holiness; we offer devotion to God the Most Just Judge; we give thanks for Righteousness, who makes the world grow, who makes the world increase.

11 Let the sorcerers be crushed, O Zarathushtra! both devils and men.

Who is he in whose house, O Spitama Zarathushtra, every Falsehood is destroyed, every Falsehood perishes, when he pronounces these words:

13 It is he who takes refuge in God, with His seven holy angels, the all-ruling, the all-beneficent, as a shield against his enemies.

We give thanks to God for the Law of the worshippers of the Wise Lord; we give thanks for the waters coming like galloping horses, made by God.

14-15. He has renounced trespasses and faults, O Zarathushtra! he has renounced all trespasses and faults, O Zarathushtra! when he throws down the destroyer of the Good Mind and his words, with a hundred times hundredfold, with a many times manifold preaching and smiting, and he takes away the Law of God, that was carried away as a prisoner, from the hands of the ungodly, who are destroyed by his strength.

Ashem Vohu: Holiness is the best of all good. . . .

16 Yatha ahu vairyo: The will of the Lord is the law of holiness. . . .

I bless the devotion and the prayer to God the Wise Lord, bright and glorious, Whose are the strength and vigour; and I give thanks for His holy angels;

For the Good Mind; for Peace, whose breath is friendly;

For Holiness, the fairest; for the much-desired Helper;

For the Kingdom of God, for the metals;

For the good Devotion and for the good Righteousness;

For Wholeness, the master;

For Immortality, the master;

(At the morning prayer): For the Friend;

(At the noon prayer): For Holiness;

(At the afternoon prayer): For the high Lord of the waters;

(At the evening prayer): For the souls of the faithful;

(At the dawn prayer): For the holy, devout, fiend-smiting angel of Obedience, who makes the world grow; for God the Most Just Judge and for Righteousness, who makes the world grow, who makes the world increase.

Ashem Vohu: Holiness is the best of all good. . . .

O God, give unto that man brightness and glory, give him health of body, give him sturdiness of body, give him victorious strength of body, give him full welfare of wealth, give him a virtuous offspring, give him long, long life, give him the bright, all-happy, blissful abode of the holy ones.
