Plain text of Hymn 16

At dawn we invoke God the Radiant and the Mighty; the All-Seeing and the Friend; the Healer; God the Dispenser at dawn, the Nourisher and the Lord of Prayer, the Provider at dawn, and God the Avenger we invoke at dawn.

We call upon God the Dispenser, strong, conqueror in the morning, the great Disposer, to whom each who deems himself poor, strong and mighty, a king, addresses the prayer, Grant Thou my portion!

O Dispenser, our guide, O Dispenser whose gifts are faithful, favour this hymn and give us wealth. O Dispenser, augment our store of kine and horses. O Dispenser, may we be rich in men and heroes.

So may felicity be ours at present, and when the Sun advances, and at noontide; and may we still, O Bounteous One, at sunset be happy in Thy protecting favour.

May God verily be bliss-bestower, and through His grace may happiness attend us. As such with all my might I call and call Thee: as such be Thou our leader here.

To this our worship may the dawns incline, and come to the pure place like swift steeds. As strong steeds draw a chariot, may they bring me hitherward the grace of God, who discovers treasure.

May the kind mornings dawn on us for ever with wealth of kine, of horses, and of heroes, streaming with all abundance, pouring fatness. And do Thou, O God, preserve us evermore with blessings!
