Plain text of Hymn Lxxxv
Give heed to nought besides, O friends; so shall no sorrow trouble you. Praise only God the Mighty when the offering is made, and say your praises repeatedly:
Even Him, the Eternal, like a bull who rushes down, the conqueror of men, bounteous like a cow; Him who is the cause of both, of enmity and of peace, to both sides most munificent.
Although these men in sundry ways invoke Thee to obtain Thine aid, be this our prayer, addressed, O God, to Thee, Thine exaltation every day.
Those skilled in song, O Bountiful One, among these men overcome with might the songs of the foe. Come hither, bring us strength in many a varied form, most near, that it may succour us.
