Plain text of Hymn 29

O God, give him all that earth hath best with bodily strength and happy fate. May God grant him life and eminence!

Bestow Thou life on him, O All-Knowing. Store him with future progeny, O Fashioner. Send him, O Light-giver, full growth of riches. Let this Thy servant live a hundred autumns.

May this our prayer bring strength and goodly offspring. Give, O God, strength and riches. Let him with might win fields and victory, O Mighty One, setting beneath his feet the rest, his rivals.

As God's gift, by His instruction, the fierce one came to us. Let him rest in the bosom of the earth under heaven. Let him not hunger, let him not be thirsty.

O God, endowed with vigour, grant him vigour. Giver of milk, give milk to feed him. God hath given him vigour through the earth and heaven, and the winds and the waters.

With health-bestowing drops I comfort thine heart: all-bright again, and undiseased, enjoy them. Let these two drink the mixture, as healers.

Of old this strengthening potion was made, a lasting food: thine is it, here presented. With this live full of vigour through the autumns. Let not thy strength be drained. Healers have helped thee.
