Plain text of Book 20, Hymn 57
As a good cow to him who milks, we call the doer of fair deeds to our assistance day by day.
Accept our offerings, O God. The bounty of the Rich One giveth kine.
So may we be acquainted with Thine innermost benevolence: neglect us not, be gracious unto us.
Accept our offering for our help, O God, bright, vigilant, and exceeding strong, Lord of Hundred Powers.
O Lord of a hundred powers, the powers which Thou among the Five Races hast displayed, these, O God, do I claim of Thee.
O God, great glory is Thine. Thy splendid fame none may mar: we declare Thy might for ever.
Draw near to us with Thy help, whether from anear or from far away. O God, wherever Thou art, let Thy help reach us, Hurler of the Stone.
Verily God, conquering all, driveth even mighty fear away; for firm is He and swift to act.
O God, be gracious unto us: sin shall not reach us afterward, and good shall be before us still.
From all the regions of the world let God send security, the foe-subduer, swift to act.
We gather round Thee like waters, we whose grass is trimmed and offering prepared; here where the stream is poured, Thy worshippers sit round Thee, O overthrower of tyrants.
Men, O Good Lord, with their offerings and lauds call Thee to the foremost place. When wilt Thou draw near to our offering, O God?
Boldly, bold Hero, bring us spoil in thousands for the Kanvas' sake, O active Bountiful One; with eager prayer we crave the golden wealth with store of kine.
