Plain text of Book 20, Hymn 48
The swiftly-moving songs of praise pour streams of vital strength upon us, as mother cows refresh the calf.
2 Swift move the bright ones while they blend the milk with vital vigour, as a dame her infant with her heart.
3 Fair hymns bring glory to the Strong, and might from God; unto me fatness and milk and length of days.
4 This brindled sun hath come and risen before the dawn in the east, advancing through heaven.
5 As breath goes forth, the dawn moves along the lucid spheres: the sun shines forth through all the sky.
6 Song is raised to God at the rising of the sun, the bird of heaven; it reigns supreme throughout thirty realms through the days at break of morn.
