Plain text of Book 20, Hymn 23

Invoked, O God the Mighty, Thunder-armed, be gracious to me; accept our offering.

Our priest is seated true to time; the grass is regularly strewn; the pressing-stones were set at morn.

These prayers are offered to Thee, O Hero: accept the offered cake as charity.

O overthrower of tyrants, be pleased with these offerings, with these hymns, Thou who lovest song, with our lauds.

Our hymns turn to the Lord of Strength, the vast, as mother-cows to their calf.

Accept the gift we pour for Thine own great munificence: yield not Thy singer to reproach.

We, O God, dearly loving Thee, bearing oblation, sing Thee hymns; Thou, O Good Lord, dearly lovest us.

O Thou to whom our devotion is dear, hold not Thy help far from us. Here be glad of us, O God, Lord Divine.

May Thy grace come swiftly to us, O God, where we are gathered on the grass.
