Plain text of Book 20, Hymn 11 (continued)

Forward to fiercely falling blows pressed God the Mighty, doing many mighty deeds. Those holy songs He taught the bard who praised Him, and widely spread the Dawn's resplendent colour.

They laud the mighty acts of the Mighty One, the many glorious deeds performed by God the Mighty. He in His strength, with all-surpassing prowess, through wondrous arts crushed the malignant rebels.

The Lord of the brave, who rules the people, gave freedom to the pious by might and battle. Wise singers glorify with chanted praises these His achievements in the house of worship.

Excellent, conqueror, the victory-giver, the winner of the light and the waters of heaven, He who hath won this broad earth and this heaven,—in God rejoice those who love devotions.

He gained possession of the sun and the swift horses; God the Mighty obtained the cow who feedeth many. Treasure of gold He won; He smote the wicked and gave protection to the race of the righteous.

He took the plants and days for His possession; He gained the forest trees and air's mid-region. He cleft the tyrant Vala and chased away opponents: thus was He tamer of the overweening.

Call we on the Bountiful, God the Mighty, best Hero in the fight where spoil is gathered, the Strong, who listens, who gives aid in battles, who overthrows tyrants, wins and gathers treasures.
