Plain text of Book 19, Hymn 45

As debt from debt repay, and send sorcery back to the sorcerer's house. O God, thwart the cruel villain whose evil eye bewitches us.

Whatever evil dream we have, whate'er befall our kine or home, be this that is salubrity, the evil-hearted's foe, applied.

Increasing from the waters' strength and vigour, sprung into life by the power of God, strong as four heroes, mountain-born, this ointment make for thee quarters and mind-points auspicious!

On thee is laid the four-hero ointment: let all the regions give thee peace and safety. Secure like the sun, a sign of God, thou standest: to thee let all these regions bring their tribute.

Make one thy salve, another thine ornament, drink one, and with another bathe thy body. So let the four-hero remedy keep us guarded from the four bonds of perdition and seizure.

May God protect me with His light for inspiration and expiration, for strength, for energy, for vigour, for weal and prosperity. Praise be to God!

May God the Mighty protect me with His might for inspiration and expiration, for strength, for energy, for vigour, for weal and prosperity. Praise be to God!

May God the Provider protect me with His provision for inspiration and expiration, for strength, for energy, for vigour, for weal and prosperity. Praise be to God!

May God protect me with good fortune for inspiration and expiration, for strength, for energy, for vigour, for weal and prosperity. Praise be to God!

May God protect me with the host of His angels for inspiration and expiration, for strength, for energy, for vigour, for weal and prosperity. Praise be to God!
