Plain text of Book 16, Hymn 3

1 May I be foremost in riches. Fain would I be first among my equals. 2 Let not strength and vigour desert me. Let not my head and my protector forsake me. 3 Let not the vessels of my household fail me; let not the supporter and the sustainer abandon me. 4 Let not rest at evening and the water-laden car desert me; let not the sender of moisture and the wind forsake me. 5 God, the Lord of Prayer, is my protector, who is called the Friend of man, dear to my heart. 6 My heart is free from sorrow; spacious is my dwelling-place. I am wide as the sea in capacity.
